AIR RIDE SEATS

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A COMPANY THAT MAKES AN AIR RIDE DRIVERS SEAT FOR RAM PICKUPS? These are the best seats I have ever felt!
I have plenty of "lumbar" problems and I can drive this truck all day long!
My wife also loves the seats... ...

I've got a '00 2500 4x4 Quad Cab SLT + that has lumbar support and electric adjustments for both driver and passenger seats. Heated, too! Never thought I'd like heated seats, but it's not too bad on a cold day.

Seats are factory w/ the SLT+ package for the 2000 model Quad Cab anyway. Don't know for the other cab configurations.

I would imagine you could purchase one to install for the passenger if money is no object...

I could swear I saw it, then when I came back after reading some other stuff - 40 min later - it was gone !!!

Anybody else see it? Please, this is important - I'm only 52 - waaaay too young for this kind of stuff...

Hi Guys, I've been toying with this idea for a while now. I work around big rigs a lot and have been eyeing their seats and bases. There are a couple that MAY work. My truck is 1st gen. so I don't know how this info would relate to a newer truck. If you can stand to look at one,take a peek at a F600 or F700 that has the upgraded seats in them. (Not all have air seats). The base apears to be shorter than on most big rigs and might work. Also some cab over Petes appear to have shorter bases that could work. I'm looking for a wrecked unit to get the seat out of so I don't have to shell out any excess $ just to experament. One other thing to consider is an air source. It occured to me that if you have air bags with on board compressor a little valving could solve this problem. The air cylenders on the seats aren't nearly as big as the air bags so it should work just fine and be convenient. You can buy a new seat with good lumbar support with the air base for around $350(low back) at a big rig supply house,although it will cost more for a really nice(high back)seat for you fancy truck guys. They do come in different colors but you may have order that. Just thought I'd throw in my 2c worth. Good luck.

I carry about 1500# in my 93 D350 CC Dually
that I work out of, so it rides a lot better
now. My bottom and the original bench that came in it were not a good match however. I found a nice 40/60 bench with reclining backs on both sides and manual lumbar adjust
on the drivers side out of a 97 F150 F**d for
$250. I'm about 1/2 way through fitting it
into my pickup, fabricating the base out of
1/4" mild steel. It just takes a little time
to get everything right. (Warmer temps help too. )

Hey Paul,
You might try to find a wrecked late model Chevy truck or suburban that had the bucket seats/console. I think those seats are way more comfy than the dodge bench seat, and they have a lumbar adjustment.

Bill Kondolay is also looking for a solution to the same problem, I have driven his truck and the under powered ( manual ) seats really suck. Some one had a post a while back about the conversion to power with out having to buy a whole new seat, just the motor parts and tracks. wiring is there just have to plug the motor harness into it. The post contained part #'s too. The Dodge power seats are the next best seat to the Ford power captains chairs.

Well folks:
I guess I'm really lucky to have electric seats. I've had back trouble since I was 14. Tried to show out lifting weights and have paid for it in an everlasting way. The seats in my 96 have to be the very best I have ever sat in. 2 weeks after I bought the truck I took a trip from Atlanta to Presscot, Arizona Drove straight through and stoped for diesel only. Honestly, I don't think I ever shifted my rear as far it going to sleep. When I drive this truck it is the only seat I can get comfortable in with no adjustment. This seat does have a lumbar support that really helps. I'm an ironworker by trade and all of use has back problems to some extent. If you can get the electric seats, do it , it works.

I drove a ladies Dodge Raider a few years back and it had some kind of shock setup in the base of the drivers seat. It was kind of strange but sure took the bumps out of the road. This should be something available at the junk yard for cheap.

Remember for those of us with quad cabs the seat belts are built into the seat. Replace the seat and you have no seatbelt. There is only one company that I know of, and I can't remember their name, that is even working on an idea of air rides with seatbelts built in. I imagine they will be pricey.
