Has anyone converted their stock seats to air ride?

My truck is a quad cab so the seat-belts are part of the seat. So I can't change the seats.

So I was wondering about converting the seats to air ride.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Does anyone know of a truck supply place that deals with air ride seats.

I'm sure if I could locate the right parts I can weld up some frame pieces.

Thanks

Craig

Air ride seat

I replaced my stock seat when the truck had only 8,000 miles, I found the stock ride to be unberable so I installed a Kelderman air ride suspension thus eliminating the springs and as the air ride came with a air pump I used the pump to keep my air ride seat up when needed. I purchased the seat at a large truck dealer, they have many to choose from, I only had to drill two holes and used two of existing holes. because I only have to air up my seat occasionally I believe that a inexpensive portable pump would be ok, that way you would not have to install a full air ride or a much cheaper air overload. I have over 512,000 miles on my 96 1 ton and I would not be without either air suspension or seat. Norm

The left side with the retractor is still the original position, on the right side I have the anchor bolted to a L bracket that bolts to a large bolt that goes thru the floor with a large washer and nut on the underside. If you look at the stock seat and then shop for a air ride you can make comparisons and see what is needed to make a proper and safe installation. Norman

I pulled the stock drivers seat out of my '02 quad cab. left the console and passenger seat in place.

Replaced the important seat with a 300 Mercedes seat. Sprung and padded from Mercedes to provide an excellent ride. I really wanted an air seat but not enough head room to do it, being as I only have 1. 5 inches of head clearance when sitting in the stock seat.

I use the shoulder strap from the back seat and fabed up the other side (lap belt) strap.

You can also get an RV seat that has the belt integrated into the seat. Look for RV warehouses in the Elkhart Indiana area to get one at a decent price. These seats will bolt right up to a low profile air seat platform or directly to the truck (you'll need to fab a bracket or 2.

I've put 147000 on my Mercedes seat in 11 months and would not be without it.
