Hi,

let's dive right into it.

I've a 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel with almost 220,000 km.

A few month back one of my co workers pointed out the my passenger side is significant lower than my driver side. Turned on the Truck and tried to raise it back up but that didn't work. Drove the truck to the dealer but they couldn't find anything as the suspension was operating normally again when I arrived there.

Fast forward the issue happened more often all the way to the point that I lost passenger side suspension while I was pulling my travel trailer (660lbs tongue weight and 4,700lbs empty)

So I finally brought it to my mechanic. He tested the system and found no leaks but the compressor couldn't achieve the required air mass anymore alongside with a slew of stored codes like max payload, low air mass etc.. My mechanic told me that he would like to have a dealer looking at it before we install a new compressor. I made the call to install the new compressor assembly (with solenoid valve block) anyway. He installed the comp. and run through all the initialization processes and was able to achieve all ride heights as well the required air mass.

I thought great saved the money for the dealer looking at it.

Two days later (labor day weekend) again my passenger side was lower and it took a while to get it back up again. That weekend we pulled the trailer and had issues all weekend with the suspension. So Tuesday 09/07/21 back to my mechanic. Suspension was working fine and he wasn't able to find anything. He did delete a slew of stored codes but he wrote them down.

-C15A3-00 Ride Height System Manually Switch Off
-C15A8-2A Air Suspension Down Button - Stuck
-C15A7-2A AIR SUSPENSION UP BUTTON - STUCK
-C15DA-00 payload limit exceeded
-C15D9-00 low air mass
-C1562-98 Ride Height Air Pump Control - Component Or System Over Temperature (Overuse DTC)
-C15A1-00 Unable To Obtain Desired Ride Height
-C1562-92 RIDE HEIGHT AIR PUMP CONTROL - PERFORMANCE OR INCORRECT OPERATION (OVERUSE DTC)
-U0423-00

So I finally called a dealer to book an service appointment.

From Tuesday to Monday 09/13/21 everything worked fine. Monday at work after I parked the truck again passenger side down. I didn't tow or load anything since Tuesday.

Today I brought the truck to the dealer and what a surprise they couldn't find nothing because the suspension worked as it should be. They did have 2 related codes:

-C15DA-00 payload limit exceeded
-C15D9-00 low air mass

Keep in mind I didn't tow or had anything loaded.

I really need help or at least an idea. TIA

Matthias

Did I miss a part where the dealer never even found any codes and just your mechanic found the codes? That's odd.

How old is your battery? Been load tested lately? The battery voltage is common to a lot of those faults you post. It's listed multiple times in the info I found. The screen shots are just the quick summary, I read a few system descriptions, it's pretty detailed how the system works.

Does the truck sit alot, is there a draw on the system? Batteries create odd situations and luckily are easily verified.

Besides that.....

I took some time to read about the codes you posted and the common theme points to your ACMS, but could be a interminent fault causing this issue.

Here are some screen shots.

Of course I really would not go swaping parts out based on this opinion. You can read up on what I have here and see what you think.

It was kinda info overload. You had a lot going on, if you re-read the codes they make almost no sense all coming and going kinda of stuff, like Swith stuck up and Down codes present.

The overpayload code when multiple codes present said do the diagnostic on all other codes first.

Overload Code

If your battery is original personally would trash it and get a good one.

Then maybe can develope a plan of attack to verify the ACMS during fault condition. It appears to have some led Indications.

Good luck with your repair.

I see your new member, welcome to the TDR, if you remember and figure this out we'd love to hear back on your solution or progress. Thanks, Tim

The battery got replaced this year. I went and got an good AGM battery. Was about 260 CAD.

Pretty sure the first dealer had codes as well but didn’t mentioned anything and I was too naiv to ask.

I fear that my ASCM is on its way out and I have to drop another 800ish CAD

Thanks for your great answer!

You really need wiTech to properly diagnose, assuming it will act up during the time they have it.
