I will haul a 12,500 lb 5th wheel trailer on my new 2500 with the air suspension. The latest TDR had a article about hooking up and disconnecting the trailer. The system has a jacking mode that locks the system to jack it up. Can I use this when connecting or disconnecting the trailer to prevent the system from responding erratically?

No.
I took some trial and error on my part but I have it figured out.

Step 1 - Be sure that your hitch is set so that the trailer sits level with what ever load you will be carrying.
Step 2 - Before you pin up, press the auto level button, wait for the truck to do its dance.
Step 3 - Pin up to the trailer.

Now, when you go to unhook, as you put weight onto the trailer jack and lift the trailer, the truck will respond by returning to level ... no funky dance. Just drive away from the trailer then press the auto level button to return to normal.
This should have been explained in the operator's manual.
