Hi All

Did a search and found little to help.

I have the Airbag lite
  • It sets at each start.
  • Fault code A4 31 is displayed on odometer when asked for.
  • Steering wheel functions seem to all be operative.

Any clues?

Is there an A-code list somewhere?

TIA

This thread lists some of the codes. A4 is listed as an ignition circuit check. I don't have an updated list of codes handy in order to be able to verify for sure.

The 31 is the number of ignition key cycles that have occurred since the A4 code was set.

Update

Thanks Ryan

I visited Spartanburg Chrystler and the tech explained I need a new Airbag Module 56043704AH. (Module won't comm. with the scan tool. Fuses checked good. ) Shop Est. Parts $160 Labor $160. If I go for it they will discount the labor $80 they collected today for the Diag.

Beyond the batt. disconnect and pause. Is there any other issues that would prevent an owner replacement? (DRB data initialization etc. )
I am reading the shop manual now to see how it is covered.

I caved, called the dealer and went with their solution.

Wow, it only took you 50 minutes to decide to go with the dealer!

I was going to suggest that an airbag module replacement should be pretty easy, but I understand sometimes you just want someone else to deal with things.

I guess A4 must not be an ignition switch issue. We should probably go correct that old thread.

I can't help but wonder, with a fried module does that mean the bag could blow at any moment, or that it won't blow at all in an accident? I suspect the latter.
