Have received two airbag recall notices. One, the drivers side they can do anytime, the passenger side they are still in the process of figuring out how to fix their F up.
Has anyone had problems with the fix on the drivers side repair? anything to watch out for?

Thanks
BIG

I had my drivers side airbag done in May. No issues and it took less than an hour.

Just a side note, when I got the paperwork back after the recall was done, they listed a flash update on my ECM. I was not happy that it was done without my permission. The service adviser said "They are required to update the truck to the newest software when it comes in for a warranty repair". It didn't hurt anything that I can tell, but it bothers me that I wasn't asked. I just got the notice for the passenger side this weekend. It will be going to a different dealer this next time.

No, they are not required to flash the ECM with the latest updates. Service writer is a lying idiot. I threatened to have a private discussion out back with the service writer at the dealership I use if they did anything more than plug in and verify their fixes worked, manager stood there and laughed about it.

The drive side bags are pretty easy, less than an hour the truck and the Challenger. Passenger side is a little harder but should be that big of a deal. Just got mine, have to setup appointments again and growl at the service writer for effect.

BIG,

Got the drivers side done a while back, no big deal.

But I got a follow up call from dealership. Yes Sir, just checking to make sure the service dept did the job correctly. Everything OK with the repair?

Not sure, haven't had a chance to test it it was an airbag recall ya know!

Drivers side we do by the pallet load,The passenger side on the earlier years we check the part number on the inflator and it may or may not need to be replaced. The later years we have to wait and see

Wow, BIG. Where did you pull that word out of? ["recalcitrant"] Crap, I had to look that one up myself.

Yeah, that had me scratching my head too!
I almost thought this was turning into a politician's soap box speach thread with that big ole word.
Got ny recall for passenger side air bag also didn't go see the ******* yet though, will have to see what they say.

Had my driver's side done early in the summer. No flash done on mine while there.

Passenger side notification arrived last week.

Blu I learned that one when I was called on the carpet by our Sq. Commander when some Leather Neck F4 Jet Jock became a little upset that an AIC 43131C fixed his GE J79 Engine (its been a long time but I think J79 is correct) at our FAC Base in SEA. He cried to our commander and said that KID'S NOT EVEN A ENGINE MECH.!!!!! #@$%!Our Sq. Commander (who lives within a half mile of us now) said that KID is about all that's going to get YOUR XXX out of here before the XXXX hits the fan in a few hours, but if you want to stay and join in on the fun grab a gun and get in the same hole as he's in, I DON'T THINK HE'D MIND A LITTLE HELP!!

He told our Commander that if I wasn't so " recalcitrant " he might go someplace in the Military!!

Do the dealers need to access the OBDII port for this recall? The reason I am asking is I am running a Smarty program and I do not want to return to stock, if I do not need to. I have my OBDII port covered with a cover that states do not flash and is Zip tied on.
Thanks in advance.

This was exactly why I was frustrated.

My truck is BONE STOCK and I still don't want the BONE HEADS in places that they don't need to be. 90% Of the wrenches at *******-ships don't have the right to be classified as a wrench.

You can tell them anything you want and the service desk jockey can say OK, but after they take it in the shop and it is out of your sight all bets are off.

I've been holding off on the air bag recall because I want to have the HVAC doors done at the same time and an hesitant about spending the money. Last year when I talked to the dealer about it I was told that it was a good idea because it will save money on the disassembly of the dash. Yesterday a friend with the same year truck was at a dealer to find out about getting the relay connected to the key cylinder replaced because his HVAC fan keeps running when he turns off the engine ($160 for the part, $190 for the labor!). He also asked about the HVAC door repair in combination with the recall and was told that they "go through the glove box" to do it, so he wouldn't save any money. He said it was a girl behind the counter who gave him this information, so I'm not sure how to interpret this. But now I'm wondering if Dodge changed the procedure because the sheer number of air bag recalls was taking too much time.

Edit: The dealer I talked to last year also told me something else that may be of interest. He said that if the top of your dash is cracked it might disintegrate when they take it off to do the air bag recall, and they won't fix it as part of the recall. So if your dash is cracked, take that into consideration. And if your dash isn't cracked, take several good quality pictures with a recent newspaper headline visible in the pictures before you take it in. I've had a dash mat on mine since I bought it new, and have also used windshield screens since I bought it to keep the cab cool and the sunlight off the dash. And not a single drop of Armor All has ever touched my truck. This is the first vehicle I have ever owned that didn't have a cracked dash.
