Iv'e got a 1st gen truck and of course the ride is not that smooth. I was wondering how it would work to take off the overlaod springs and maybee a few main springs in the rear and use airbags to make up the difference. Anyone tried this? Or can anybody offer advice?

Got em, love em. Even took a leaf out to help with the ride empty. Then just put the air to em to haul the weight!

Hey thanks for the input. This is the first time I ever posted a topic so I'll try not to get to excited. Bryan, that picture is exactly what I've got in mind. Is that the same system that you are running Ted and Stab? Is one system better than another? And one more question then I'll stop. Do you get more axle wrap up with less springs or is it not that big of a deal.

I recall some company that makes aftermarket air suspension kits for the first gen. I had suggested it to a buddy who said he checked it but could not afford it. Ring a bell anyone?
 
Would that be the Kelderman air ride? I looked at that system at a truck show. I like it but I thought it was expensive and bulky.

Stab, on a scale of 1-10, how much smoother is the ride? I thought most of the rough ride was coming from the front axle, not the rear.
