Going to be adding air bags to my truck to help with the 5vr. My question is what are you guys running? Also, do I have to cut out part of my fender liners on the rear of my truck or are there some spacers to push the liners out? I thought I read there were spacers to keep them off the rear liners but I can't find that page now. I'm not sure if that was with the Firestones or the AirLifts.

Thanks,

Clay

I'm running the firestone bags on my truck. I don't know about the 2 gens but on the 3 gen they installed with no cutting. I had to remove the bump stop and the bag went in it's place

here's mine

went in under an hour. very well designed and even upgradable to an auto leveling system.

I have been using the Airlift for the last 5 years. Can't help yo with the liners, total install time about 4hrs. Camping World was the best price when I checked and bought mine. The bracket that mounts to the frame is inside the wheel well and the top bracket that the bag sits in is 1. 5" below the wheel well sheetmetal. This is on a 2 wheel drive, if it helps.

Clay,

I dug up the installation book.

94 and newer 4wd pickups

Remove inner fenderwell cover driving the pin carefully through the fastener with a center punch. These fasteners will be reused with a special supplied spacer to provide clearance for the air spring. Looking at the picture the spacer only goes where the air bag is located. The rest of the liner re-attaches with the original fasteners. The spacer shown uses a bolt, a piece of tubing (spacer) that slides over the bolt and a nylon locknut. the spacer essentially moves the liner at the air bag closer to the tire at the air bag location.

On my '98 2wd, the Air-Lift bags went in without removing anything. I don't have the compressor, just inflate to 80psi when I connect the 5th wheel and deflate to 5psi when I'm not towing. On a 5000 mi. trip, the bags lose little air. I'm real happy with the way they trim out the truck under load. Check the bolts occasionally, I had one shear off after about 20K miles and replaced it with a grade 8 bolt.

I have the Air-Lift on my 02, easy to install. I ran the fill lines separate to the top licence plate bolts, did not have the wheel liners at the time but did buy some and installed them with no problem. I did cut just a little off the bottom of the liner where it turns into the frame. Just used a razor blade and just cut so it would not rub the air bag, you can not even see the cut.
