Oil Bypass Filters

Best Dry Filter

I have no personal experience with them, another member posted the numbers and had stocked up on a few but I cannot personally tell you they will work. Someone else also called fleetguard and was given the same numbers. All I can say is call fleetguard or maybe someone who has one and actually screwed it on can verify for absolute cerainty.

I asked them if the filters were compatable, their mircons, and if any upgrades are avail. As for the AirDog factory filter specs you will have to call PureFlow Technologies for that info I bet.

Pureflow will tell you that you have to use their filters, they seem to be very greedy since they bought the company.

I asked them who makes their filters. They (the receptionist) were very quick to reply that they make their filters. Somehow, I think not.

Ok-

Strange. One person says yes the other says no.

Has anyone actually installed and used one of the fleetguard filters?

Not sure if I'm willing to drop in quality (microns) to save a few bucks.

What does PureFlow Technologies get for new filters and whats the microns?

Pureflow filters

Item: FF80-3

Description: 3 micron AirDog Fuel Filter

Unit Price: $18. 90

This is from my last invoice on July 7, 2005

What's the Fleetguard price?

OUCH!! The Fleetguard FF5617 can be had for 5/$10 on ebay.

Not sure if its worth it as they are 10 microns verses 3.

Hmmm... .

A micron is a thousandth of a millimeter,

or a millionth of a meter or . 000039 of an inch.

Fleetguard #FF5617 - 10 microns = 0. 000390 inch

Pureflow #FF80-3 - 03 microns = 0. 000117 inch

0. 000273 inch difference... .

How dirty is diesel and does it REALLY make that much of a difference?

Whats the stock mopar filter rated at?

I have been using fleetguard filter # FF5613, which is either a 3 or 5 micron filter can't remember off-hand. It is a stratapore filter however and is the exact same size as the airdog filter I removed from the unit. I have been using this filter for over two months now with no ill effects. Price was $15 each with shipping.

Light Duty Automotive Diesel Engines. Same as FF5587, but different micron rating.

Ok-now we are getting somewhere.

It appears that the FF5617 (10 micron) and the FF5587 (7 micron) or FF5613 (possibly 3-5 micron) would work.

Can anyone else confirm or deny the use of these filters and microns?

I'm glad I saw this thread - I was getting read to order a case of FF5587s this week. Has anyone contacted Fleetguard to confirm the actual micron rating of the FF5613? Sounds like it might be a better filter...

I'll call Monday if someone doesn't speak up before then.
