Smarty Jr Update

Does anyone know if the Airdog has a pressure adjustment on the pump??

Mine runs around 12 psi normaly, but with this colder weather it seems to drop down to 10 or so. like to see a little more.

Pull the fitting out of the filter base where the return line goes back to the tank and under that will be a spring and rubberized poppet valve. You can add a couple of 1/4" washers between the spring and fitting, or try one at a time until you bring your idle pressure up to 15 or 16 psi. Be ready for a diesel bath.
Regards, Mike.

Would this be the actual return line fitting, and the poppet valve is inside of it or the hex head set screw right beside it??
BTW, thanks for the info.

PVanderlugt, Pull the hose off the fitting, on the AirDog base, that goes back to the fuel tank fill tube. That is your return to tank. Then pull the fitting threaded into the AirDog base and the spring and poppet are behind the fitting or inside the filter base. The poppet seals against a seat in the base and the spring sets against the fitting. You can add 1/4" washers between the spring and fitting to act like shims to increase the spring pressure against the ball poppet so the line pressure increases until the pressure lifts the ball off it's seat and the excess pressure goes to return or back to tank. You can call AirDog and they can send a stiffer spring, or you can try stretching your spring by hand a little, or you can add 1/4" washers one at a time, like shims, until you get a desired idle pressure of 15 to 16 psi.

Regards, Mike.

you were not kidding when you said "get ready for a fuel bath"
royal pain in the --- but get her done, 16psi idle, 15 in cruise, all is well.
Thanks again for the info

What year of truck do you have? Give us a call and we can get you a different spring setting if you would like. Looks like your all fixed up though.

Truck is an 02, tried the washer thing, but even 1 washer raised the pressure to almost 20 psi, took the washer back out and just stretched the spring a little, works alright now. The royal pain was with access to the unit under the truck and the way it is mounted, just not a whole lot of room to take fitting in and out. Love my Airdog, really quit, nice steady psi, good to have the extra filtration, and thank God no more LP I will call you for a different spring in case the stretch is not permanent
