Does anyone have experience with Walker Engineering's Airsep? How much does it cost? Is it worth the money?

airsep

Just thought I would make a little comment.

I to am interested in the airsep, but after checking out their website, all I can figure is its to darn expensive if they cant put a price online. If you find out let me know. their fuelsep is kind of interesting, magnets ? Dont know.

Sorry for the rambling, burns me up when companies wont put out prices.

Thanks

Scott

For everyones information, the price I got from them for the unit for my 96 was $425. 00. It will make the crankcase a closed operation unit that will sort of be in a vacuum. That will help stop any external leaks. Sort of like holding your finger over the end of a straw with water in it. I'm going to get one but had another transmission go out. That has to come first.

 That is alot of $$$. I think I will buy some autometer gauges first (boost and EGT), and deal with the oil smell after my first oil change.

THANKS FOR THE INFO.

Oil smell

rwineman: if you are getting a lot of blowby smell in the cab of your truck, check to see that the rubber seals at the top of the firewall do not have any gaps in them. When installed at the factory there is often a gap at either end of the long rubber seal that mates with the hood when it is closed.

If there is a gap, the intake for the heat/air conditioning/ ventilation is at the base of the windshield, and at idle a lot of under hood air will be drawn in. [along with blowby fumes]

If your truck is new, [or very low miles] hook up a heavy load and take it for a long drive!! This will put a load on the engine and help in the breakin and seating of the rings. These engines like to work!!

My latest truck really stunk :( until I towed my car and trailer 600 miles, no stink now! :)

I hope this works for you!

A friend installed the Airsep on his Y2K 2500 CTD about a year ago. He (a former Detroit Diesel mechanic) said installation was not easy. Just talked to him last week and he also told me that to change the oil filter you have to remove part of the system, although he believes Walker rerouted the tubing on the newer systems they sell. Oil filter change for him now is about a 2 hour job. :( Other than that, he said it works great.
