This is a good idea, I am a member of tdiclub.com and they have a forum dedicated to fuel economy.

So far I have found setting my Adrenaline to PL1 with the none aggressive tuning and most importantly lowering speeds to 55 MPH has done wonders. Also keeping the foot out of it helps a lot I don't care if a ford, chevy beats me from the light!!!! I know I can gobble them up if I want to and that is enough.

Sweet Spot and tire pressure

Old Ugly does fairly well on fuel. However, the steps I use are; Running the engine in its sweet spot. 55MPH is OK in 4th gear. 5th Gear, the Sweet Spot is right at 67-68 MPH. 55 MPH, other than legal speed limit requirements is not always the best speed. The second trick I use is to run the highest practical pressure in my tires (235/85R-16E), usually 65-70# in the front and 55-60# in the rear when empty (while keeping the tires the same effective O. D. ) The last thing is to plan trips to town where I can accomplish many chores instead of just one. I also keep a full tank. If I go past a station, while on a trip to town that has a good price (and good fuel), I will top it off. GregH

we have been trying hard for the last year to get the most out of our 06 trucks while towing 5th wheel trailers we expirement on one and what works we put on the other two . a pdr camshaft and the smarty jr has given the most gain in mileage , nothing was worth changing on intake side of turbo and afe stage 2 decreased mileage, the bigest money waster was the dual cp3 from ats they claimed the pressure droped over the pulse and keeping the pressure constant would give 2 mpg increase it did nothing at a cost of $4300 it was the most expensive failure . the air tabs worked the dynatrac free spin hubs did not give the mileage i expected but love it the 2wd low reverse is awsome the cfm+ and grid heater delete was good the 5" turbo back and donoldson m90535 muffler is quiet ,cheap and good . the fitch did not work near as good as claimed but did work changing the turbo to a larger more efficient ats 3000 did not help at all and for $2300 it was the second bigest waste of money

55 mph was great in the 70's. With today's overdrive transmissions, lock-up torque converters and improved aerodynamics, 65+ mph is just as or more efficient. If an engine is "lugging" or shifting in and out of overdrive at 55mph, that is not efficient.

I agree with dieselnut- things have changed since the 70s (though some cars had really high gears that would equal a final drive similar to our OD and lower gearing of today. Mom had a 66 Catalina that lost 3mpg at 55mph vs 70). And they claim that our trucks are aerodynamically efficient at 45mph or some Baloney like that. But, you also have to factor in the BSFC curve and run it just a hair above your peak torque, giving you some reserve left over for hills and such. In most trucks, that comes outo to around 60mph. I havent had the patience to try my pickup at 60mph, but it does better on fuel at 65 than at 70. And on a 100mi trip I'm getting there 8 minutes later. Big deal.

Where did you put the Air Tabs-- on the truck, trailer, or both?? Got pics?? TIA

something Smells fishy on the fuel additive . sounds like a scam to me sorry

i put the air tabs on the truck and trailer, i copied a pix of the black truck shown on the air tab site and placed it next to our truck and placed them as close to the same as we could, the ones across the hood keep the bugs off the windshield i can email you a pix but i have not figured out how to post one , might try for a fiew minutes

I could share with you a dyno reading from one of my new customers who was interested in off-road racing were he compared our additive to other brands and our additive added 34HP and 36lbs of torque.

Ok that sounds good. I would also like to see the mpg testing as well. I look forward to what sounds like a great product. How much acetone is in it?

Did you run the airtabs across the top of the trailer as well?

How well are they working for you?

I was thinking about using them on our MH.

Kelly,

The pic of your truck, The airtabs are good on the rear behind the side window but I don't think they will help for the side fenders. . you should have put them behind them at the rear of the bed. Airtabs help the air to go straight when there is a right angle to the flow.

Those airtabs on the fender will create a turbulence in the area behind the fender instead of like water on a spoon.

i took a pix of a black truck off of the airtab site and placed them where he placed his , the ones across the hood keeps the bugs off of the windshield just like he said it would and on the trailer it stabilizes it a lot when trucks pass you have to try it to believe it, the ones on the trailer are not so noticeable but you are going to get questions and kidding on the truck
