Does anyone know the fluid capacity for the 2014 Aisin transmission? I can't find it anywhere. Changed my trans. fluid today and only got 6 qts. out of it.
 
Should be in your owners manual unless they have taken to deleting important info so owners can't service their trucks. IIRC, that is slightly less than than 1/3 of the actual fluid capacity. You need to do an exchnage instead of just drop the pan unless you want to do that every 20k or so.

The fluid capacity on the AISIN is listed at 24 quarts, warranty is a 60k exchange interval.

The AS69RC Aisin transmission fluid part number is 05189966AB (quart) and 05189977AA (gallon). On my invoice it lists for $12.85 per quart and I paid $11.31 per quart. When I inquired about one gallon containers, I was surprisingly told he also had it in gallons, but it was more expensive to purchase 2 gallons than it was to purchase 8 quarts. Go figure....The next time, I'll ask if they keep it in bulk and hopefully get a better deal then.

My parts guy printed me out a list of capacities for the 2013 RAM 3500 trucks. Interestingly, the Aisin overhaul fill amount is 13.74 quarts. The overhaul fill on the 68RFE is 16.4--17.5 quarts. The service fill for the Aisin is 7.2 quarts (I bought 8 quarts). The service fill on the 68RFE was not listed, but I believe it was a little over 10.5 quarts for my 2007.5 RAM 3500.

Couldn't find anything in the regular manual or the diesel supplement. Are you sure about the 24 qts.?
 
Up until 2012 Ram Body Builder listed the AS69RC as 24 quarts dry fill. Seems that from 2013 on they have taken to deleting that information from most of the publications. One would assume that the capacities for would be the same between the the pickups and CC now that they are somewhat merged. Does Amsoil have a fluid that meets the AISIN fluid requirement? It is not AFT+4.
 
You need to do a fluid exchange. Would you do a partial oil change? I did all the fluids early on my 11 with AMZ/OIL.

Run AMZ/OIL now you don't need to wait. As earlier said it has synthetic from the factory.

I have not looked, is the AMZ/OIL Universal ATF ok to use in the Aisin?

Source???? My 2013 Diesel Supplement states a drain & fill at 30k miles then a sump filter change & fluid refill at 60k...it starts the same sequence again at 90k miles.

That is where the diffrerence seem to come in, is it just sump and filter or exchange?

Supposedly the warranty manual tells a different story. Dealer was saying 60k to meet warranty criteria and the warranty manual was backing that up.
 
I looked at this when I first got my truck. What I couldn't wrap my head around was that the C&C trucks retained the 60K Aisin service interval. I'll probably change it at 30K, but I think its overkill. They thread has made me wonder if they somehow reduced the total system capacity on the AS69? Not sure how they would do that , but I guess it is possible. I was thinking that they had to shorten the fluid change interval do to upping the tow rating on the 13's, but as far as I can see if the C&C's didn't need to reduce their oil change, neither do the non C&C trucks. They share the same GCVWR.

Amsoil Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid is spec'd for the Aisin.

What exactly is involved with a fluid exchange? Does it have to be done at a shop?
 
Drop the pan change filters. Measure the fluid that was removed. Now fill with the exact amount. You are full again. There are two steel lines on the top side of the radiator on the drivers side. Could be different on the 13 and 14's. Bottom line find the quick disconnect fitting and pop apart one. Find a hose to cover both ends and have the ends in a container. now have someone start the truck and stop as soon as you see fluid. Find a hose long enough to go from quick connect to the ground and place hose in a container. Preferably one that has volume marks on it. Make sure the hose fits tight on the factory hose. Don't ask me how I know!

Ok have someone start the truck in a short amount of time the fluid will sputter from the hose. Shut off the truck. Now re fill with the exact amount of fluid. Keep track of how much fluid you have added. Then re fill with that exact amount of new fluid. Keep repeating this until you are close to the total fluid capacity. At that point the fluid color will change. I usually end up a with 1-2 quarts more than it takes to do a complete fill.

Some nay sayers will tell you there will be a problem letting it run out of fluid for a second or two. I don't buy that. I have done this many times on many different vehicles with no ill effects.

Like I say do you change part of your engines oil?

Very clear. I just don't know if I really want to go through all that. I may just keep just draining the pan and refilling with Amsoil every couple thousand miles and eventually I would have just Amsoil in there.

It would take many many changes to completely rid the factory fluid with Amsoil doing that method, as the fluid is mixing together each time you drain and fill. You could literally do two to three flushes worth of fluid before you achieve the same results draining 6 quarts at a time. It won't hurt anything, just seems like a waste. I have done the exact same procedure Cummins12V98 mentioned and it is not all that time consuming. Once and done, and your good to go and can actually keep track of where your at mileage wise for your service intervals. JMO.
 
It really is worth the time doing it. The first time does take more but after that it is a breeze. I can tell you either the AMZ/OIL or the MagHytec double deep pan did help my 68RFE trans temps, probably both. Towing 28K combined the trans temp was 188 at 100 degrees. Grades and flat land it did not seem to matter much.

Is it only compatible with or fully compliant with the Mobil spec? That fluid is compatible with ATF+4 but not compliant with the ATF+4 spec.

Unless you want to foot the bill for warranty work, I would be very careful with the fluids you use.

Towing 28K combined the trans temp was 188 at 100 degrees.

That is normal for ATF+4 and a stock pan, nothing much gained there from the looks of it.
