Truck (2018 3500 dually 4WD) is ready for the 30K transmission fluid change. To be sure since we are dealing with an expensive component.
Mobil ATF 3309 is acceptable?
On just a drain, the amount to refill is about 7.2 quarts? Of course need to check at the proper temperature.
What is the amount needed to refill when the filter is changed?

What is the capacity of the transfer case?

My 2018 RAM 4500 has been quite happy with Mobil 3309 through 337k miles.

On a HOT drain, seven quarts will be just about right. To be sure.....you can always check the level first, then measure what you drain out afterwards. A drain much beyond :30 won’t yield a huge amount of additional fluid.

On a sump filter change, one can expect around 10.5 quarts for replacement. Although the pan gasket is reusable several times, I’d err on the safe side and have one on hand, just in case. Only use a MoPar transmission filter.

I’ve ran Dexron VI in my transfer case every 60k miles or so. Capacity is 2 quarts. I buy O’Reilly Auto Parts house brand for about $7.99/quart. It’s much more reasonable than the BW44-44 fluid.

I run Amsoil ATF in both since both specs are printed on the bottle.

The Aisin in my wife’s 4Runner calls for the same spec fluid and it’s had the same Amsoil in it for 182K of its 207K miles.

Check the level hot if full drain and replace exactly what you drained as mentioned. Transfer case drain, replace plug and fill, to the bottom of the fill hole. OH yea AMZ/OIL Signature series Universal ATF in both.

My 98 12V my Son has I started using AMZ/OIL in the Transfer case at 50K and now has over 450k going strong.
