I paid under 1,800 for 5er/gooseneck prep, rear air and 4.10's. I'm betting the cost of the hitch is around $1,300. $276 for the cargo camera. Brake controller was included in the LongHorn.
Perhaps I missed it, but while the reverse is true, where does it say you get Max Tow by selecting 4.10s, and/or gooseneck prep? Not to speak for Wiredawg, but that seems to be the root of the question, "is there a programming/operational difference with Max Tow?".
He was asking about the pickups, he knows about the 4500-5500's
That isn't the way I read the first post.
But either way his 09 was a 4500 which has a AS68RC and he also had a 17 5500. But did ask the following:
So pickups and C&Cs that don't have the max tow, do you have 6th locked out or not?
Which could indicate either.
JR,
My bad...even though my thread is primarily Aisin, I would like feedback on the 68RFE too. I'll be sure to be more clear. Thanks for the input.
Can't remember where I found it, but the AS68RC max tq was rated at 730 lb ft, but I was running around 800 lb ft on it... proves to me it was well built. I could not find the max tq rating on my AS69RC but theorize with the 930 tq HO Cummins, it actually must be at least 1000 lb ft or higher.
I imagine the 5th gen Aisin will have upgraded internals, programming, and maybe gearing. Maybe 1080 (WAG)?

Friends, right now it seems the biggest missing information is: is there any difference in Aisin programming between Max Tow Pkg equipped trucks and non-Max Tow equipped trucks? Or is it just additional options grouped into a "pkg"?
RON
They must have dropped the rating on the B&W Companion. Mine is rated at 22KLbs and 5500 lbs pin weight. See the specs on mine.B&W is TOP quality. BUT you are limited to 20k towing with the gooseneck connected companion. The RVK3600 is 25k with 6,500# pin.
Best way to go is the 4 puck and GN connection as it's a CHEAP option. Besides you need the pucks for the safety chains with the gooseneck.

Your spec shows a model 3050. Big difference compared to the RVK3600.
Ron,Second should lockup.
Mine won't lock in 2nd while accelerating under normal driving or towing, but it will lock in 2nd with extended operation in 2nd which often means locking out all gears above 2nd. I have seen it lock in 2nd without locking out 3-6, but not as easily.
For me 3rd lockup is common, and fairly frequent. I do suspect that you spend a lot less time in 3rd than I do with your 4.88's thou.
