Mine won't lock in 2nd while accelerating under normal driving or towing, but it will lock in 2nd with extended operation in 2nd which often means locking out all gears above 2nd. I have seen it lock in 2nd without locking out 3-6, but not as easily.

For me 3rd lockup is common, and fairly frequent. I do suspect that you spend a lot less time in 3rd than I do with your 4.88's thou.
Do you get a sort of double-tap thud when it locks up? It's not a shudder like my old 48RE, it feels like it locks-unlocks-relocks. I also notice it generally does not lock until third, but sometime does lock in second.

Maybe its my 4.88s that cause such strong function, but it is very uncomfortable. But with a heavy load, it is amazing.

The 4.88's would certainly do it. Just as low gears multiply the torque from the engine, they would also multiply any type of engine braking...be it exhaust brake, or typical gas engine braking.

Put gear display to show what gear you are in. Decelerate and it will stay locked thru 2nd then come out of lockup when it drops to 1st.

I do not get a thud with lockup. It is very smooth, and generally I don't feel lockup.

I know the 68RFE has partial and full-lockup tables, so it's possible that the Aisin does as well.

My 2013 3500, 2014 3500 (both AS69RC and both with 3.73 compromise gears) both locked in 2nd.

My 2018 RAM 4500 w/4.10’s also lock in 2nd.

Sure seems like a 4.88 thang, Wiredawg!
