I installed a Geno's MagHytec with the sight glass at about 5K on my 11 Dually with 3:42 gears and added AMZ/OIL 75/90 Severe Gear Oil. At 50 K I drained the fluid and it came out a nice golden clear. I was surprised at how clean it was after 45K and heavy towing at 29K combined load.

I will install a MagHytec on my 15 Dually with rear air when they come out with one! Really like nearly doubling the capacity.

That doesn't rub when you put a load on her? Mine did, and I had to grind down the fins a bit...just FYI. When the truck is loaded, the rear sway bar rotates inward, toward the rear diff cover.

I haven't loaded it up yet, although I did give the suspension a fairly good workout off roading. Can you share which fins and how much you trimmed?

I had to remove roughly 1/2 inch of material - kinda a pain, but it clears now. I have the air ride in the 2500, and lowering it to lowest setting would simulate a load on the coil springs. Where the fins stick out (the largest fins), I ground those darn near flat. It is sort of trial and error, but I assure you after a load, you can look on the fins and see black marks where the rear sway bar will rub. Here are some pics...

Thanks. Did you grind it while it was on the vehicle or did you take it off? I'm worried about boiling the oil but I think if I go slow with a die grinder it'll be fine.

I hardly doubt you'd be able to heat the axle fluid up with a grinder more than what the ring & pinion will......empty or towing.

I agree! I installed my finned cover, then noticed the sway bar rub...so, I used a grinder with the aluminum cover on the truck. Grind away, you'll be fine. Be sure and wear safety glasses, and clean the grinder from time to time. I'd remove a bit at a time, then check. You'll have to remove the rear sway bar, but's no trouble at all.

Thanks guys, here is what I ended up with. The die grinder jumped out of the groove a couple of times and messed up a non-working area, but other than that I'm happy with it. I disconnected the sway bar from the frame and measured the maximum gap between the frame and the top of the bushing with the sway bar touching the diff cover and got about 1 1/2". When I was finished I got a little over 2".

I also attached a 5000 lb trailer (not sure of tongue weight) to the truck and it wasn't even close to rubbing after the mods.

Any DRW pickup with AS69RC had the 11.8" / 300mm rear axle in any ratio (3.42, 3.73, or 4.10) and thus received the aluminum cover.

Ah, OK. There it is in print. I could have swore there was some type of exclusivity with he 4.10 & 3.73 and the 300mm axle.

I'm glad I found my 2015 brochure or this would have bothered me for a while. Had to make sure I wasn't losing it. Maybe they stared this for the 2015s?

GM and Dodge both use the exact same rear axle, that's why there are 2 studs on the upper left, GM trucks have a brake line bracket that goes there.

My 2014 has two studs with a brake line bracket attached. There is also a third stud with a plastic cover over the threads, nothing attached to the third stud.
