I am looking to purchase a 2019 Dodge tradesman with the Aisin 6 speed 4x4 with 4:10 gears for my company and was wondering if one of you that have an Aisin can help answer a question. I have 2 other 01 Dodge3500 4x4 trucks that have the 47Re's in them and when we tow with them we have to push the tow haul button for a take-off and once we get the truck moving good we take it off tow mode because the engine winds out with the 4:30 gears. It’s not because of the gears because all my other Dodge trucks with 47Re's with the 3:54 do the same pulling. My question to you with this new Aisin can I just leave the tow haul mode on when pulling up at any speed, like my other Chevy Duramax 3500 trucks with an Allison? Reason being it’s a pain in the butt to push the tow haul mode button on and off driving the 01 47RE's!

No issue getting a load moving with the Aisin, with or without tow/haul. Tow/haul is very aggressive with the downshifts and exhaust brake, so lighter loads may be better dealt with without tow/haul. These things pull like a beast.

^^^ exactly. ^^^

It’s uses all the gears and holds solidly. You know you have a transmission in these trucks. It’s not hesitant to firmly shift. It reminds you every time you get behind the wheel you have a real truck.

In TW, it’ll wind out the gears a bit more, and it’ll aggressively downshift for more effective exhaust braking. It’s a wonderful setup and towing package.

Get it man. You’ll love it.

Yes, the 01’s push button on the shifter says tow mode. Lol Probably is a glorified overdrive though! Lol I have only bought 7 for the combined 2. Lol That was really expensive trying to find a reputable transmission shop!

I bought the Aisin option because I wanted 930ft-lb. Can't get the HO motor with any other trans. Never had a 68re or even the 48re as I came from a G56 truck.

I appreciate all the comments!!

Does it actually/ truely have hp for like passing etc. Reason for this question is all my other 5.9’s had to have some sort of power boxes to help them with the hp. I am not looking for a race truck mind you I just don’t want to go down that endless rabbit hole for power. For the prices we pay we really should not have to add anything. Let me know your thought.

The other issue is the 47Re’s that are built with billet components and triple discs shift so hard into Overdrive it will almost snap your neck and I hate that, but the builders all say that’s normal? I just was hoping the Aisin won’t do that!
Also will the Aisin downshift good with a load like an Allison? That feature I love!

It this a dually or SRW, what are you going to be towing that you need to 4.10's gears? Aisin work fine with taller gears do to the lower 1st and 2nd gear gear ratios.

BTW the 2001 has 3.54 or 4.10's, however a much taller 1st gear. I owned a 2001.5 for 14 years with 4.10's and it towed well with custom transmission, it was however not a freeway cruiser. My 2015 with Aisin and 3.42's loves cruising at 80 MPH at 1750 RPMs, yet towed at 24,500 in Western States with lots for passes and mountain climbs. SnoKing

Yes, they come with 3:54, but they sucked for pulling heavy loads so I had them all changed to 4:30 like the Fords had back them and love them!

The trucks are what many "bombers" try to achieve for years, yet do it in stock form. No need for gauges and they will not hurt themselves. Maintenance is a little more, but things like the Racor primary fuel filter is a good deal. SnoKing

Hook it, and book it. No mods required.

Came from a decently modded 05 to a bone stock AISIN. They both pull the same, which makes it that much nicer as it’s a stock truck.

I use tow/haul with any trailer over about 3K lbs..ish. Most my towing is well above that, so TH is always on when hitched up.

Hope this answers your question.
