JPM, what are you asking or saying???
one guy says the new trucks spin tires and other says they do not , so what is it?
Much more get up in tow haul mode
TH keeps you in the power band.
Personal preference, call it what you want you have instant acceleration in TH. Burns more fuel yes but who cares.
“Over revving” not so that’s if you exceed 3k.![]()

My DRW 15 AISIN right out of the box handles my 35k combined load without any modifications. That's West Coast Towing!

15's for a 2022 and 17-18 for a 2003.
Your ET math is also off. Not sure how you're calculating it, but it's hard to prove a point with incorrect figures.
300hp @ 7000 lbs is a 16.6 ET; while 400hp @ 8000lbs is a 15.8 ET.
Noticeable braking improvement on my 18 over my 05, and that's just the service brakes.
I can pull better mpgs out of my 18 than my stock 05, so again poor figures. My modified 05, which returned better mpg than stock as well as a lot more power, could do better in some instances than the stock 18, but not all. They are generally ±5% which is hard to quantify as capability vs environmental.
Speed and braking are just one aspect of towing, handling is another and the 18 is night and day better than the 05, which was great too.
I think some folks might think something is wrong in the transmission or engine as it feels like it falling flat on its face then comes back on gang busters later. Truck is meant to pull and haul not drag race with . I need to try to drive it normal. I probably really need a hellcat hemi. Need for speed
Did same with dead-stock 2005 G56 DRW in oilfield. So?
B). But these little light-duty pickups today do practically the same as they did in ‘04. They aren’t better on the road, nor can they do more work.
Some might say otherwise. Fine.

Apples and oranges.
Oil field work is mostly slow and on flat ground with a low profile load. Take that stock '05 with a high profile 5th wheel, in the mountains of the Rockys or West Coast with no exhaust brake.....
Or, take that antique G56 in stop and go traffic, down town Denver, for 60 miles with a heavy load v/s the modern 4th gen. auto....
I love my old standard transmission Cummins powered trucks (3) for the log woods, but for the big highway, gimmie my 4th gen!
