Alarm choice

I'm moving out to El Paso (not my choice) and scared to death that my 2nd gen will be seen smoking across the border. I will be looking at some alarms tomarrow, any ideas of the best one to get? I did a search and read about ones that kill the ignition/starter if activated, but what happens if the loser pops the hood and cuts the wire to the alarm? I'm not so concerned about someone breaking in and having something taken since I never keep anything of worth in it, the stock radio and glass can be replaced but not the truck. Anybody with experience out there that can make some suggestions?

If so, LEAVE IT ON BASE when possible!

I used to live within 3 hours of ELP and would do a lot of our shopping over there. Everytime we would come out of a store, we would hold our breathes in hope the truck was still there. there's not really much you can do, other than completely disable the truck and park in a well lit place. maybe a secret fuel pump switch under the seat or something?
