Tailgate locks: Bully or Pop-N-Lock?

Been reading about purdytj's (TDR Member)truck that was ripped off and wondering what if anything you fellow members have setup on your truck as a theft deterrent?

Anywhere from alarms to systems to disable fuel or power. I'd like to hear since I am considering this.

Do a quick tdr or internet search for Ravelco... I have one on my truck and I while I still use other commonsense precautions, with the Ravelco "switch" installed, I feel confident that my truck will still be where I parked it when I return. Although a flatbed could still be used to steal it, and while thieves might damage it while trying to steal it, the way the ravelco wires into the truck makes it virtually impossible to hot-wire.

Lock dog in the truck if it don't get them, it will make you aware that you need the other way of dealing with theft

Bignasty -

OK - so you're not there to put your artillery or dogs to use.

BIL had both - bad guys got in (through the door handle trick) - alarm went off - didn't get his truck....but -
Damage = $2K

So back to - what is a good *intrusion* deterrent - besides turning your truck into a permanent kennel for your Pit Bull or Rotweiler?

.

In all fairness in todays world you can buy the best the greatest alarm or deterrent in the universe and the bottom line is IF SOMEBODY WANTS IT BAD ENOUGH, IT'S GONE!!!

That Ravelco thing that was talked about above, the wife has that on her Audi. So did her friend with a BMW and they had no problem loading the BMW on a tilt bed tow truck and taking it someplace more convenient to work on it. It wont let them start it but the damage to get in is already done, they punched out the steering wheel lock with a hammer and punch and pulled it up on the tow truck with a winch. This was done while she was in getting coffee and a doughnut, crooks have become as efficient as a pit crew at a NASCAR race. So this is the reason for the Smart A comment on my part, but if you SHOULD find the perfect product to prevent this problem let us all know please!!

I use the CLIFFORD 5704X Alarm with "SST" (I think it is called) - has a 1 mile range to the remote. Most of the time I am within 1 mile of my truck so if the alarm goes off, my remote goes off as well telling me what was triggered. I can head out to check on the truck. I also had a backup battery and a siren installed inside the cab up under the dash and it is REALLY loud in the cab.

Like someone said above, if they want it they will take it, however, I feel that this alarm gives me a chance to get out to the truck and defend it if necessary.
