Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Alarm for '99 CTD

Well guys I didnt want to have to buy one of these, but think it is time. Someone tried to break into my truck last week, TRIED, but didnt get in.



I am now in the market for an alarm...



Anyone out there have any experience with alarms systems?

What should I buy?

What should I expect to pay with it installed?

It will be for a 99 Cummins.

Dang where should I have parked my truck a week ago? I wouldn't have to be replacing the 53 block this weekend then.



A good thief will figure out ANY alarm system, and how to get around it.

JMO, alarms nowadays are a waste of money. Like JeffD said, most thiefs can easily get around them. I bought what was to be a very good one a couple years ago. Installed was around $600. Had sensors everywhere imagineable, no way anyone could get in. Woke up one morning to go to work, truck was gone from right outside my trailer. Best thing to do is hook up some form of kill switch-ignition, starter, battery...

maybe as may as you can. Dig around on here, there was a thread a while back about hidden switches. Don't waste money on a security system that 99% of the general public ignores anyway.

The 53 block has been replaced, that is not an issue. The people around here are have been breaking into cars, not stealing the whole thing. Im looking for somthing that will scare these kids away when they bust a window. I understand that if someone wants to steal the truck they will. The cases around here have been "smash and grabs. " Thanks for the input guys.

I have a Python 881 2 way alarm on my truck. I take the remote to bed each night. If someone breaks a window, the remote will start beeping and I'll bayonet the kid with one of my SKS.
