Look in the owners manual, the instructions will be in there. I turned my horn chirp off the first day I got the truck.

You can always put in a switch. I assume that you are going to wire them in conjunction with your existing horns. If so just run the power lead from you stock horns into the cab of your truck to a switch and then from the switch back to your air horn solenoid. Then you can turn your air horns off and on whenever you want. That is what I did but I never turn them off. I like the Chirp!

My Grov is connected with the electric ones and is mega loud... however the Grover does not go off when I hit the alarm lock... . only the stock honks. I don't know why but I think the electric pulse is so short the solenoid does not have time to open?

If I'm not mistaken, I remember reading that there are two different length pulses that can be sent to the horns when arming the alarm (as well as none). For the life of me, I can't find out how to do the programming in either the owners manual or the factory service manual.

To disable the horn chirp (Taken from page 13 of my 2001 owners manual) :

  1. Place the key in ignition and turn the key to the ON position (do not start engine)
  2. Press and hold the UNLOCK button on the transmitter for four to ten seconds
  3. While the UNLOCK button is pressed, press the LOCK button on the transmitter and then release both buttons
  4. You will hear a single chime when programming is completed
  5. To enable the feature again, follow the above steps[/list=a]

I don't have the "alarm" I just have the remote keyless entry, so I don't know if we are talking about the same horn chirp.

You can also put a relay in the horn line that only gets power when the switch is on. This will allow you to keep your horn chirp on arming the security system without the airhorn being sounded. I inititally disabled the horn chirp, but found my self always wondering if I did in fact arm the system. The down side is you do not have the use of the airhorn if the switch is off.
