My 93 had an alarm on it when I got it, I know nothing about it nor do I have any info. Today it gave me a problem.
I have not been using the alarm, just been locking the doors manually using the door switch. I didn't have the controller with me. The switch under the dash that can turn the alarm on and off broke and somehow the alarm activated when I got in and tried to start it. The system has a disable function that prevents the truck from starting and THAT seems to be working just fine. I was able to get it to reset but the wife had to bring the controller to me at work to do this.
Question- how does the disable funtion work on these aftermarket alarms? Anyone know where they normally tie into the system? I can hear relays clicking under the dash but couldn't find the unit. its up above the brake pedal unit someplace.
The under dash switch actually fell apart when I was fooling with this and I wonder if it activated the system. If replacing the switch doesn't fix the problem, I will try to remove the alarm but I have to know where it ties into the system at.
Any ideas?
