I have a 2004, equipped with the factory alarm and sentry keys. After delivery, I purchased the impact sensor from Chrysler. I have not installed it yet, but it is a simple job by the instructions.

I purchased the Mopar EVS-II system from a dealer which includes the Interior Theft Sensor (IT-S). It plugs into the security module under the dash using one connector, and the only adjustment on the sensor is a wheel for sensitivity. I ended up disconnecting the IT-S because of false alarms. If you turn down the sensitivity to the prevent false alarms it won't activate when actually needed, so for me the IT-S is useless. The rest of the EVS-II system works great.

I also disabled the panic buttons on my FOBs this weekend. I was sick of the alarm going off accidentally when the keys in my pocket would press this button. I opened each FOB by prying it apart and put a piece of electrical tape over the board contacts for the panic button. Works great, and I can remove the tape if I want to enable the feature again (you will need the panic button to work on one FOB when programming any new FOBs).

I have ordered this system for my truck, but I haven't picked it up yet. Where did you install the shock sensor? Have you tried moving it around? I have found that most shock sensors work the best when they are attached to the steering column.

They must have changed this system since I installed the EVSII on my 2001. All you did was take the trim off the steering column and plug it in, then wire the siren. I know the new one does not have a siren, but I'm surprised that it doesn't have a "no start" feature. On my 2001, it had a "passive" feature and could be set so that if you left the doors unlocked for over 5 minutes, the truck would not start unless you cycled the key fob, or put the key in and pressed a hidden button. It also had a "shock sensor" but I never could get it adjusted to work correctly. Just wouldn't set of the alarm, but it didn't affect the rest of the system. Maybe if glass was shattered, it would have worked, but just bumping the vehicle never set it off. Someone who has an aftermarket system installed needs to look at the manual that came with it and list the features... ;)

I had the Dodge dealer install it for me. They had to enable something in the truck's computer so it would recognize the EVS-II. They used a tie-strap to tie the IT-S shock sensor to one of the factory wire bundles under the driver's side dash. The wire to the IT-S is long enough to reach the steering column if you so desire.

I messed with the sensitivity adjustment quite a bit before deciding it just wasn't worth it. The final straw was when the IT-S went off one Sunday morning in the parking lot while I was attending church. I'm positive it wasn't the panic button as I was too far away and inside of a brick building. Needless to say it was quite embarassing! :)

I mainly wanted the EVS-II for the Sentry key feature. The IT-S system issues really doesn't bother me much. I can always plug the sensor back in if I have to park in a really bad area.
