We are going to Alaska this summer with some other Airstreamers. Leaving Gillett, WY on July 5 and meeting in Dawson Creek. Will be in Alaska for 3 months and really looking forward to the trip. I'm not a gun nut although I was a Law Enforcement officer for over 25 years in Texas. After I retired I never carried again and that was difficult to get use to. Several years ago we were victums of an attempted armed robbery. I say "attempted" because we did not have any money on us and the suspects did not get any money. They were armed and threatened to kill us several times. This happened in a remote area of a private membership campground and we had nothing to protect ourselves. I never leave my home now without a weapon. No, I do not plan of taking any firearms into Canada

gaylejoe.....

Interesting to hear your issues in a private campground... We're permitted in 33 states as I remember because of the reciprocity agreements... but I traveled to Canada for 15 years on business.... usually once a month.... I'd never think about taking a hand gun into the county but we might take a long arm with a permit through the country... I do wish there was a simple way to ship a hand gun up and back without a lot of fuss....

One last thought if its not been said... there's always a big fuss going north.... and I've learned to check the current laws about food, (people and dog food) and making sure I have all the documents for the dog... and geez there was a problem bringing pet food back to the U.S....

Jack in Alaska... when you drive do you take an RV.... any specific issues going into Canada.. BTW had a terrible entry into Canada from Tok on a motorcycle... the gal, (first nation) wanted to almost take the motorcycle apart...
