Alaskan Campers?

Anyone else using one?I never hear much about them here. Had mine for 5 years and love it. For those who don't know, the top hydraulically raises and lowers,when down it is only 12" higher than the cab. I've taken it places I couldn't go with a regular camper due to low branches etc. Truck also rides better,not so top heavy and less wind resistance. Mine's a 10' cab over,I highly recommend them,especially to anyone who likes to hit the dirt roads with a camper.

back in 89, used it 2x pd 500 sold it for
2000 wife did not like it no bath ,
the 73 i had was only used 2x over
say 15 years, i also had 2 10's but never used them, sold them , i left mine on all the time
now iam spoiled i have a lance 11'

Alaskan Campers are sweet! I was going to order one for a prior 4x I owned however, I decided to trade off the truck instead.

One of these days though.....

BTW, they are very well built campers, several of my friends have had theirs through at least five different trucks! In fact, one of them purchased his in the late '50s if memory serves. The other one purchased his in the '60s.

The best part... they are quality built in the great State of Washington, Chehalis, WA. (now) to be exact. When I was seriously looking at them they were built in Tukwila, WA.

Hey illflem, what's up with the camper pic... a friend of mine purchased Harris & Company Off-Road (Tacoma, WA. ) although, he too closed it down after a year or so of ownership (his second off-road shop... too hard to keep both places going simultaneously). Did you purchase the camper used?

alaskan campers

I have an Alaskan 8 foot center dinette and will be using it again Labor Day weekend in the California delta. They are quality and I would rather have a good used Alaskan over a new canvas side pop up from another vendor. All I hear about is how great Lance camper are; I wonder how many of those folks even looked at Alaskans before buying the Lance. Going off road, the Alaskan is better as it is in the wind, a common Nevada occurance.
