Alcoa 19.5" Dually (& Single) wheel update

I just got off the phone with an Alcoa rep. They are hoping for an end-of-March introduction on a direct bolt-up 19. 5" dually wheel system. Testing is going well. It will be a complete package from Alcoa to include new steel wheels used as the inner wheel on the rear, and of course aluminum for the outer wheel. They will only sell it as a complete package due to tight fitment issues (they feel their proprietary steel wheel is necessary--reading between the lines, that means to help insulate themselves from liability, which is completely understandable. )

I was looking for a set of 'standard' SRW type wheels in 19. 5", so I can convert to SRW, but they have nothing on the drawing board for that. (I am aware of Rickson and Vision. )

Just wanted to pass this info along.

Cheers,

Scott

I was told by Alcoa last month that they do have a set of wheels for the SRW scheduled for production late Feb/early March. Did they tell you something diffrent? I've been waiting for aluminum wheels for 18 months now... ...

I asked about such a thing, and he said there's nothing in the works... and acted like there never was... hmmm...

I'll have to call them again. Frankly I'm getting a little tired of waiting on Rickson and Alcoa had given me some hope. Only probelm was Alcoa had said they would be a 19. 5 x 6. 5 which is too narrow for my tires :(

Ok, you've got my attention. Do you have any specifics on those wheels? They look like a direct bolt up, what's the offset?

SRW update

Thanks for the link, tgbol. I called Waynes Wheels to buy a set. Nice helpful guy on the phone, However, same story, he's been waiting for them from Alcoa for 1 1/2 years. He said he just called Alcoa and they are saying they should be out in late March. They sure look nice... Why do we always want what we can't get? :{

Why do we advertise what we don't have? I saw the first advertisement for the Edge Juice over a year ago. It was released last month. Thanks Scott for looking into that.

We are Dodge/Cummins owners. We march to a slightly different drum. If we didn't want something we couldn't get we would be just like every other F*rd or GMChevy owner on the road. Viva La Difference!
