2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Alcoa Wheel centering

I just bought a '97 3500 with Alcoa wheels (pn 160242). My question is what is supposed to keep them centered on the hub? The center bore is too large to mate with the hub and the flat washered lugnuts have no cone.



Ideas?

Since no one knew the answer, and I had some time, I searched around and found out that the wheels on the truck were for a FORD dually. That would explain why they aren't hubcentric on my Dodge. Guess I'll be selling these and getting the right ones...

I was going to say that some moron used the wrong lug nuts when they put on the wheels. Your truck uses a 60º Cone seat lug.

I've heard that centering the Alcoas on the 97 and older daullies is a PITA. Don M said once that he did'nt like to dyno his truck a place that made the duallies take off the outer wheel to dyno because getting the wheels centered again is no fun. That's just what I've heard though.

I wish Alcoa would make some 19. 5's for us.

if you search around a bit you might be able to come up with lugs that center the rim by the lug hole. . looking for a needle in a hay stach. but they are out there. .

if you have to use these then get some tapered lugs and do it that way. . however not the correct way for safety and you'll have to put a taper seat on the rim lug holes
