Ijust spent 4 hours polishing my aluminum wheels. What a pita. No clear coat and I don't want any. My question is,What can I use to keep them cleaner?Wax or What? I Know that polishing has to be done every so often. Thanks in advance

I also do the shine-thing and have spent 10 hours at a time dressing out rims and tires. I have found that "Coopers" is best all around. The guys with the 18 wheel rigs with Alcoa's all the way around use the stuff. I've tried everything else on the market. The "maintenance" white liquid is what I'm referring to and not the "polish". If you have scratches or dropped lug-nut blemishes I use polish to soften the dings and hopefully remove the hits but, for just maintaining a finish the "maintenance" product is ideal.

I don't see a web site on the package but they have a toll free number 1-866-4COOPERS, they are located in Hespiera (sp?) California.

BTW when I wash I use my compressed air to blow the rims dry before the minerals in the water dry on the raw aluminum. This "maintenance" product has made this easier because there is less penetration from the standing droplets of water.

I'm a detail freak.

I use windex and old newspapers. The printers ink makes the rims really shine. It doesn't cost alot to get a shine on the rims.

wow, you guys wanna come "detail" my truck? I'm lucky if I wash it monthly... it just gets hammered in the mud and dirt so much it's not worth the effort to clean it. But hey if you guys need practice!!! sign me up!

I have had pretty good success using a product called "Flitz", a polish for all metals. The stuff is amazing on badly oxidized metals and works wonders for restoring pitted chrome.

After I polish them, I use Alcoa Sealer. It's a spray on rinse of product that acts as a shield. It isn't permanent but it does allow for longer intervals between polishing. They also have a quicke bright product (known as PDQ) for in between polishings.

You can find their products online here .

For unprotected or show shined aluminum parts and wheels the is nothing better than Zoop Seal. It will clean and seal the parts making for alot less polishing. it is not cheap though and sometimes hard to find in local stores. I'll add a link to the site below... ... ... ... Andy

America's Truck Wash and Chrome Shop has this Magic Mix... . Talk about some shine when all is said and done! go to the link, then click on cleaners and polishes. . I used it on my 379 pete, and all you do is shake up the bottle to thicken it, rub it on, then wipe it off. . no buffing req'd. . just thought I would spread the good word!

First off, never use anything that has in it's title "miricle", "Magic", "No Strain","Best Ever", "Wonder" this or that.

Next go with the zoope seal. It isn't cheap (best price I've seen 109. 00), but if you want something that works, this is the stuff.

If your mouth is bigger then your wallet, then get a bag of rags and a tube of Wennole.
