Heh, get this. I take the truck to the local Firestone across the street from where I work and ask them to align the truck. I point out that the right front tire is wearing on the outside down to the wear indicators (in 16,5xx miles no less). This truck was just aligned exactly one month ago at a Firestone in San Antonio.

They get it in the bay up on a lift and then call me to tell me that they can't do a "run out" on it because they can't get the front end lifted. It's too heavy. Blamed it on the front bumper. I informed them that the front bumper only weights 190-200 lbs, not a substantial amount with respect to a 6800 lb truck.

At any rate, they can't align it. Did I miss something?

Duane, I had the same misfortune with my first set of front tires, the right tire was real worn on the outside of the tread after only 15,000 miles. I was lucky enough to have a shop in town that just purchased the 'latest and greatest' alignment lift, built to handle the larger trucks. It's all computerized now. They drive the truck up onto the ramps and lift it. The wheel skins come off and a laser indicator is installed on all four wheels, with a wire from each running to a PC. They punch in the vehicle specs. and the computer displays what is required. Mine was off on the front right, don't recall if it was caster or camber.

Check around and find a shop that CAN handle your truck, someone out there should have this set up.

Thanks Scott. I'll check around. This Firestone did mention that another Firestone a few miles away had heavier duty equipment, but I'm quickly losing faith in them, even though I have a "lifetime alignment" contract with them.

What in the I was thinking when I bought that, I have no clue.

No problem, Duane. If need be, I'll stop by the shop and get the name of the alignment rig the shop used. I know it cost them about $80,000. 00  . Let me know.
