I know that on the 2nd gen trucks there was a recommended set of specs for front end alignment that differed from the factory settings.

Is there anything like this for the 3rd gen trucks or are the factory settings what we should stay with?

Mine is an '07 Reg cab dually 4WD. I'm not seeing any weird tire wear, but it seems this truck takes more attention to keep it between the white lines than my previous '01 and I am thinking of taking it in to have the alignment checked. It doesn't pull or head for the ditch when I let go of the steering wheel, it just requires more attention to keep it going in a straight line.

This truck has 50K miles on it.

I would start by checking ball joints, steering and track bar, if all that is good and tight try adding a little more caster, move the alignment cams on the axle side of the lower control arms so that the bottom of the axle is pushed forward a little more

I can't answer your question but might be able to help...

Here in WA we still use studded tires... we have many roads with ruts from the studded tires and my dually has a fit staying in the lane... the tread width of the front axle and the tread width of the rear axle make it almost impossible for me to drive the truck on a road where the ruts are much more than an 1" deep... often on a multiple lane road I'll take the left lane because of the lower amount of wear...

One I move on to the smoother surface all is well... I understand tire wearing angles and how to increase the ability of the truck to go straight by increasing positive caster but don't think I can ever get past the darn ruts...

My 3500 4x4 dually runs 19. 5" tires and gets close to 80K miles per set. . we don't rotate, and now close to that mileage I can see just a little front tire wear on the outer ribs... We've done nothing to the front end parts...

I know I haven't fully covered your needs but hopefully this might add to your needs...

I think the 19. 5 with super stiff sidewalls make it worse, I know my F450 is all over the road with just 1/2" ruts, really annoying!

When my sway bar end links went bad, I felt like I had some side to side roll which made me feel like I was continuously having to "drive" the truck. Replacing them with MaxLinks from Geno's took care of most of it. Mark
