sorry just a little frustrated. I am going to give them a call thanks for the info
Believe me, I understand your frustration. I have been there too. Find a good alignment shop and it helps. I still am looking into Thuren's cross-over steering, Thuren track bar, DSS steering stabilizer and PSS 3 1/2 turn steering box and then maybe this truck will be fun to drive again.

Lotsa money to throw at the steering but its still cheaper than a new truck.

Good luck.

I talked to mike from louis frame in fresno. On my setup there is no individual caster setting on the steering knuckle. The only option for camber setting is the aftermarket adjustable ball joints. The two factory adjustments available are the toe in/out and lower control arm eccentric for caster. Also there is no cross caster setting available. Both sides of the axle must be lined up straight. Brents article must have been written before this year (2001 dana 60 4500lb) front axle was out. Now to find an alignment shop.

Sorry you didn't have the adjustment that I had. At least you're getting closer to a solution.

So you don't have any caster adjustment other then the eccentrics. That may not get you the caster you need but worth a try. Didn't the adustable ball joint include caster too?

Keep us informed on what you find out.

Good luck,

Dave

The eccentrics on the lower control arm are for caster but there is not much adjustment range there to work with.

I picked my truck yesterday and the shop said that the most caster they could get with these eccentrics was about 2. 8.

Is this normal for the stock arms?

I don't know. When I had the alignment done at Big O Tires the tech said there wasn't much adjustment available at the eccentrics and more adjustment was available at the upper ball joint if needed.

Maybe someone that knows will chime in.

Dave

I have the dt adjustable lower control arms that allow alot more caster to be pulled and are built like tanks. The adjustable ball joints for my axle are camber only. Since I just replaced the ball joints last week I am gonna wait on the adjustables have my factory set camber check and go from there. alignment sounds pretty straight forward. I am going to have it set to 4degrees positive caster. The toe I will leave standard.

Jesse,

I am running the MOOG adjustable king pins on my truck. Being that it is eccentric, I think that you will get some caster + or - depending on whether it is on the front or rear side of the eccentric.

My question is why do I want any camber at all on a 4x4 monobeam axle?
