I have 3 friends with the DuraMax trucks. All have had a problem with them dropping a gear going down the road if the accellerator is pushed down even a little. The engine will scream and the truck slows down. They have had numerous reflashes with no lasting luck. One goes back to the dealer this Monday. They had it 11 days last time. This transmission should be great. GM has made a lot of electrical shifting changes to it and right now I want nothing to do with it. Allison refuses to work on it here.
This can't be right! This was suposed to be the end all of all transmissions I have a customer with the 8. 1l V8 with the Allison. Yep,it lasted about 2,500 miles. Appearantly they didn't drill out all the oilports on some of them at the factory so parts of the transmission starve for oil and crater (got to love that GM quality). As far as the downshifting when pulling, everyone I've talked to with the Alison set up say they behave this way.

Oh, one last thing, it costs HOW MUCH more to get the Alison?! No thanks, I'll stick with my DTT upgraded 47rh anyday
I am really surprised to hear about the problems with Allison trany's. When I started hearing about problems with the Dodge Auto it concerned me. So far I have had no problems with my 1998 24 valve auto, 354, short box, lots of chrome, -silencer ring.
