I may be crazy but I might be able to get my hands on a set of 5X17 injectors out of a ppumped pullin truck. They are cheep and are in good running condition. My question IS are these to big for the VE? Ill have the injector bodys changed out and the pop pressures set a little higher than normal. What do you all think? I plan on tryin it out and comparing them to my Haisley EDM's I have now. Im not worried about idle haze or smoke, all im worried about is power. Anyways alittle smoke always looks good out of a stove pipe. :-laf

Well it's been a few years since I had physics class, so someone else will need to chime in to figure up AREA. You have 6 x . 014 edm's. What area is that like compared to 5 x . 017 ? Also a 6 hole 1st gen tip matches your piston better than a 5 hole 2nd gen tip. IIRC, the guy at Scheid told me either your 6x14's or 6x16's flowed about the same as their 5x18's. I wouldn't have the pop pressure set higher than stock. That just stresses your little VE. KTA actually made all his power with pop pressure set below stock spec fwiw. That said, 5x17 wouldn't be too big IMO.

Bgilbert, about the spray pattern. Im pretty sure DDP uses the same tip for the 2nd gen injectors and the 1st gen injectors. The only difference is that the same tip makes more power on a 2nd gen due to higher pop pressures. Like the stage 3's in my truck right now are rated for 70hp in a 1st gen but if you changed the body and pop pressures and then put them in a 2nd gen they would make right around 90hp. So im not worried about the spray pattern. And as far as area goes, the 6x14's come up to . 084 and the 5x17's come up to . 085. Now I don't know wether I did that right or not but the 5x17's come up to be . 001 bigger. Im also not sure how much not having that extra hole will help me or hurt me when it comes to atomizing the fuel. Any one else have any input.

Dzlpower those injectors would make a nice nitrous injector. :D

Math error

JAyers- your math is off. Considering the area of a square is pi r squared, you have:

. 017/2= 0. 0085 Square that to get 0. 0000722. Multiply by 3. 14 to get 0. 0002267 sq in per hole.

Total: 0. 0011335 sq in.

. 014/2= 0. 007 Square that to get 0. 000049. Multiply by 3. 14, and you get 0. 0001538 sq in per hole.

Total: 0. 0009228

So, the 5x. 017s are 22% bigger than the 6x. 014s.

Ive been told that a few times. Thanks for clarifying all that for me. I forgot all about the circular part :-laf . 22% bigger eh well I might rush things abit more then.

Get them set up and run em, see what happens. They wont be too big for the pump and the spray pattern should be real close. I just ordered some 6x. 018 edm's for mine. We'll see how they run.

I just ordered them. Chuck said he should have them by Monday or tuesday and then send them to me. I also sent KTA a check for a 14mm head and rotor :D . Hope to see that this week also. Oo. Oo.

It was the plan when I bought the truck, Been collecting parts a robbing banks since

Better than staying home! :-laf

How far away are we going to hear you coming at SOP this year? Last time we thought you were a field spray rig, now what, a pulling tractor? :-laf
