The link above won't work. But here is the campaign number which can be entered from the main page.

02V159000

Here ya go...

"Defect Summary:

ON CERTAIN 4X4 PICKUP TRUCKS, THE REAR AXLE FLANGE WELD TO THE AXLE TUBE COULD FATIGUE AND ALLOW THE BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY TO ROTATE.

Consequence Summary:

DURING ROTATION, THE BRAKE LINE COULD SEPARATE FROM THE CALIPER RESULTING IN A BRAKE FLUID LOSS IN THE REAR BRAKE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM.

Corrective Summary:

DEALERS WILL INSTALL REAR BRAKE CALIPER REINFORCEMENTS ON THE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLIES. DAIMLERCHRYSLER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED AN OWNER NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403. "

According to the notice, 46,000 vehicles are affected - my question would be, what is the difference in the affected area between a 4x4 and a 2x4 rearend?

Well how do you know which trucks are affected? It does not say which truck Models this applies to, nor state build dates or VIN # range of the trucks affected.

mberry,

Not your fault. It's just a poor website that's all. I'm sure they haven't compiled all the information about it yet, so they haven't got around to putting the specifics down. In any event, I appreciate the heads-up, because now I can probably get mine scheduled and repaired before DC mails the recall notices.

Thanks,

-Adam

Called DC's 800 number from the WEB page and go a hold of DC's recall dept. , gave them my VIN. and they have no recalls for my truck. My truck was built 9/01.

Recall

I caled DC and gave them my VIN- not effected - mine has an 8/01 build date. I believe this a 1500 series recall and does not involve our larger trucks. Given the campaign date I believe we would have received quick notification per federal law.
