Just now got in from a fine day at the All Chrysler Nationals at Carlisle,PA,,Thought everyone would like to hear a little bit of the HP/torque Challenge that happened today,,I myself have been going to this meet for many years and trying to get the management to allow the diesels to spin the Dyno Jet and finally this year it happened,,Many people took their shots at the Jet with some fine gasser numbers posted,,One Nostalgia Superstocker put 502hp on the ground(500in wedge on gas, sorry missed the torque number)and he ended up being top gasser,,Kudos go out to 83 crew cab as he spun the jet with his slick 72 Blown Big Block Road Runner and put out a very respectable 476hp-495tq,,Also in attendence was the slick Black bottle rocket of Jetpilot,,With a very large crowd present Doug smashed the gassers with runs of 737. 7-763. 6-755. 9 HP,,Torque rates were not available due to Doug hammering the jet to its limit of 1200tq,,The amount of people in disbelief afterwards was amazing and one even asked and recieved Dougs autograph,,Many people were sent scrambling like a chinese fire drill due to large cloud spewed by the bottle rocket,,Hats off to Doug on a job well done and doing the diesels a nice job representing us so we can continue to roll with and I hope Mopar Muscle's photo shoot afterward does not make it hard to fit in the cab now,,NICE JOB DOUG--CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!... . Andy

Sounds like you had a good time Andy. Wish I could have made it. Congrats to Doug on those HP numbers. Hope they really count. How did you do in your event? Sounds like there is a lot more competition.

Brad

This is the onle time that i wish someone would have got video of the dyno, so that we could see the crowd right afterwards. :D

Great report Andy, and slap on the back to Doug for representing us diesel heads. Just hope his head don't get bigger after the autograph. ;)

Do you know if he did any diesel only runs out of curiosity... ... that way the "whiners" (theres some in every crowd) couldn't say its all in the nitrous ;) It would have been interesting to trounce them diesel only... . then say... oh let me flip on the nitrous! :D

Yea that was good! Sure were a lot of surprised spectators oohind and aahing over a heavy Diesel putting out that much, and best of all that it was one of our members!!!!

Larry. :D

Jet pilot/dyno run

Guess what guy's ... there is vidieo of his run . . and I made it.

it's in vhs-c so i'll have to transfer if to reg. vhs. once i fig. that out i'll make it avail. not a long vid. but a good one(plus i had to kinda move to aviod the smoke storm. all i can say is you had to see it to belive it... ... i will get w/ Hammer on how to make it avail. to all. PS Doug get's first one! glad to finally meet george too. Awsome car george!!!

Thanks all Proram

Congrats to Jet Pilot. Glad to hear all went so well. Sorry to have missed it as close as I am, but other things came up.

Good job Doug.

:--) MY HAT IS OFF TO THOSE NUMBERS !!!

I WAS A NON BELIEVER UNTIL I RAN NEXT TO THAT

TRUCK . THESE NUMBERS ARE FOR REAL AND I AM PROUD

TO HAVE A GUY WITH CLASS IN OUR GROUP KICKING

GAS!!!!

GOOD JOB!

First to answer Kats question-No Kat,this was a "Run-Watcha-Brung" dyno roll,,NO ONE was going easy and there were more gassers on giggle gas than the one lone sprayed diesel,,Now before people get their undies in a uproar, there are two things they have to understand here,,1st-This is the first year the Carlisle promotions staff has allowed the diesels to dyno,,In previous years I have been given every excuse in the book as to why we could not spin,,Having played the email tag game since February to make this happen and getting the ok a little late I posted it so we could open their eyes,,They had this diesels, why bother attitude deal and it has now been changed,,2nd-with having our foot in the doors what better example to show them what these little 5. 9's can do,,Jetpilots slick black bottle rocket stepped up to a plate and played in unchartered territory and wowed the crowd into utter disbelief,,I had posted this event here and across the clubs email hoping to get more trucks so if they don't believe the numbers and cry fowl, there is only one way, because they did not see it themselves,,No diesel only spins were done by Doug and we made the statement we wanted,,Now for those who will ask if other diesels dynoed, yes about 6,, About 4 stock trucks,1 done at Jannetty's and a Autowurks truck,,Numbers are not going to be posted as neither of those were TDR members and can not answer for themselves here and it would not be fair to them... .

Numbers were amazing off Dougs run and no one can discredit what he did,,About 200 people witnessed the spins and 2 magazines were on hand shooting it along with ProRams video of the event,,Mopar Muscle did a photo shoot after the run of the truck so we'll see what goes on with that,,Checking the final results today lead to us finding out the winner should get a cover shot on a upcoming issue,,What I wanted to accomplish I did,get our foot in the door and with that I'll offer my personal thanks to Doug for the help and a job well done...

Listen we all go to these events all over and most are TDR based,,Our great magazine we get can only cover so much and has only so much exposure,,One thing I wanted to do was to get a foot in the door so more people can see what we are doing with these trucks and maybe get those of you who do all the extra work another avenue of exposure,,In a long conversation last year with a major Mopar magazine editor he made a comment about diesel pickups not selling magazines beacause people associate them with the "older crowd" and "campers",,I worked hard to convince him that was not so and those magazine people in attendence now have a different view,,Well I'll end with this, great show, great fun had by all, more cars and trucks too see than you could cover and alot of fun too... ... Andy

P. S. -In conversation with the Dyno Jet operator this morning one comment he was asked all nite afterwards and even this morning was"What was on fire down there' during Dougs run,,He told us many people who did not see the run were asking and were told about it,,When the slick black bottle rocket arrived on the grounds this morning and parked in the middle of the show field it had quite a crowd around it and the pilot was very professional and answered all questions asked... ...

I am Pi$$ed

I went through Carlise Friday on my way to Lebanon to have transmission work done. I was wondering why there was sooooo much traffic trying to get from I-81 to I-76 and back. I can't believe that I was that close, but did not know.

Sucks for Me!

Well I just got home tonight and wanted to make a quick post... . Boy did we all have a great time! It was sure nice to see all you fellow TDR members at Carlisle and I want to thank you for coming out and giving your support.

Like Andy (aka Hammer) said we went to the event wanting to promote the TDR group as well as open a few eyes to what these ol 6 cyclinders are capable of. There were a few non-believers prior to dynoing but there sure were a lot of smiles afterwards. I am in hopes next year of having even more of the TDR members showing their stuff at this show.

Doug

With a very large crowd present Doug smashed the gassers with runs of 737. 7-763. 6-755. 9 HP,,Torque rates were not available due to Doug hammering the jet to its limit of 1200tq
