Well... ... . turned the key to start the truck this morning and the grid heaters kicked on for the first time. Looks like the summer is all done. BRING ON THE SNOW

Must be nice... . supposed to be in the mid-90's the rest of the week. It won't get cool enough in Tucson for the grid heaters to kick on until November.

Yes they do! Been watching mine close for near a week now. Had some really mornings, mid 40,s. Pleasant time of year. No heat as of yet.

Yeah, I hear ya, I have the early model heater, I won't see mine til temps go under 15F. Thats why I love my big Deka battery!

yeah sucks for me i need to buy some grid heaters ha. . my truck didn't want to start the other morning sucked. . ha even tryed a squirt of ether that didn't do it either. . so i drove the tdi haha i was late. . kinda bugs me though as last winter with crappy battery it started in zero degree temps so 50degrees shouldn't bother it. . any one know what grid heaters cost?. . and best place to buy em at?

It should start without the grids... I never wait for mine until the temps are in the mid 30s. I just crank and go. Usually starts on the first compression stroke.

Maybe your battery is on the way out... a diesel needs to spin fast to start.

That happened to me one morning last fall... . was turning too slow to start. Battery load tested marginally good, but didn't have enough to start the engine.

Later that day... new battery and problem solved.

yeah jay mine normally starts asap. . as for the battery its brandnew like 1 month old spins rally fast its 1075cca commer... too so the battery isn't the problem it wasn't pumping alot of white smoke either when it was trying to fire so im leaning on a fuel line leaking back or losing prime etc? mumn pain in the butt. . even the last resort ether didn't do it . . another reason i was thinking fuel problem...
