I'm looking to buy a new truck and don't really want to buy the last year of the "old" body style if I end up buying an '18....is 2019 the year they come out with an all new truck design?

Also, is there a difference between the 2017 and 2018 2500's? It looks like there are a few 2017's around and I might be better off getting a '17 if there were no changes to the '18. Was the increase in torque for 2018 only for the 3500's?

Last I had read the Next Gen truck has been pushed back.Normally they release the 1500 ayear before the 2500/ super size trucks. That said 2019 be the year for the new 1500's?

No changes that I know of between '17 and '18 for the 2500 with the exception of a few color changes. Someone will chime in if I am incorrect.

I'd be more concerned about buying a first year model than a last year model. Surely there are to be big changes aside from cosmetic with the 5th gen. Granted warranty covers any problems (for a while), but I'd rather have a reliable truck with as many bugs worked out as possible than the "latest and greatest."

I hear you and agree about a truck that has all the bugs worked out. I just feel this body design is starting to look really old since they've had it for so long. I will probably get an '18 and hope I get used to the new grill. BTW - I have a brand new '16 for sale in the classifieds if anyone is interested - I'm located in SoCal.

^^^ I agree 110% with JR. Especially if they implement a brand new emission system.........does the year 2007.5 ring any bells????

If that emissions system is same tech as is in Iveco trucks and CaseIH tractors, it will have been in service for a few years by '19. New body style may or may not coincide with new engine emissions tech.

So the only real "emission" equipment on the engine itself is the EGR, correct? I assume they will not be going back to open crankcase ventilation (which is also an emission device). The EGR is not an issue on the later model engines, so the bigger news would be if they found a way around the DEF/DPF issues.

From what I have been told all NEW truck and yes no emissions on engine!!!

If they don't F-UP the look I may have one in my stable!

Okay, so there WILL be an all new truck in 2019?? I'm really not wanting to buy the 1st year of the new gen if there is a new truck, but I'm also not wanting to buy the last year of a body style that looks "old" to me now. decisions decisions...

Devil Black well a complete redesign is not due till 2021.New features that I am aware of after attending the RAM press show at the fair was new colors, two different upscale package's.A bed light switch,a 30,000 hitch, and a few upgrades to the UConnect.

if it's in price line with Ford, i'll pass. Ford just announced a 100K truck. wow. i can buy a house or two for that kinda cash.
i'm hoping to get a 5th gen as well, before its sold off to china or who ever, i think FCA has a good thing with the current setup and i hate to see that change. but they are greedy and need to sell off parts of it to become richer.

that said i think the new engine will be a 2020 and whole new redesign in 2021. but it's only speculation.
