On my 96 I have a #6 plate mild dv"s and a 3gsk , timeing adjusted and tuned pumpThis past weekend I hauled 2 cars and 2 truck beds from oklahoma and my exh temps would get hot on any good hills rite away and I could not hang on the hills like I could if it would not get hot, and if I kept it at 8 or900 deg my water tempwould go up. I know 4" exhaust would help, but I am wanting to know what else would help or what have u found out that has helped u Thanks

A BHAF dropped my uphill temps some. 800-900 before the turbo isn't very much; you should be able to pull a hill all day in that range without water temp problems. At some point a turbo upgrade may be your best answer.

You seem to have found out the limitations of not enough air, you can keep pouring the fuel to it, but that does only so much. Your Sig list a 4" exhaust, but you said you don't have one?? Anyhow, the steps you need to follow will address these issues. You seem to have most of the go fast goody's just not the basics. Open up the air way and let her breath, your truck is starving for more air. Pick anyone of the popular intake air kits, I have the AFE on and like it very much. Next I would consider switching to a larger exhaust housing, you tow alot so the 16 cm/sq one would really move the air and lower the EGT's. It is a relatively cheap up-grade, if you have the funds you might even take it to the next step and get yourself a better turbocharger, you make the decision. Lastly, if you do not have the larger exhaust, now is the time to get one. This is a very beneficial up-grade, to move more air you need a bigger pipe. But this does not mean the truck has to run a straight pipe or be loud, most all systems include decent high flow mufflers that help calm down the noise. Some times Drone becomes an issue, I had this problem and solved it by add a Aero Turbine muffler in front of the system muffler, a bit pricey but worth every penny.

This is a great list of modifications that will wake your truck up and help make full use of the mods you have already made. You can control the cost by selecting the parts that fit your budget, but remember nothing on these trucks is cheap and quality does cost more. Good luck

My quick thoughts are maybe it's time to pull the radiator and service it and replace the coolant. Then upgrade air intake. Also have you installed a boost fooler so you can run the turbo up higher than 25psi or so?

You may want to have your fan clutch checked out - mine was weak and was causing high coolant temps when I pulled hard.

thanks

I have a BHAF filter on it I nottice it helped some, the 4" exh I think will help just not shure what charger I will get???. It will rite now boost 40 lbs of boost, I just serviced the collant system 10,000 miles ago. I was thinking a bigger charger too. I have a e-brake on it to will I be able to use it on a different charger??? and what kind of charger would be good. I just tow stuff on the side for me and ather people It just makes me mad when I got all this power and I got to be putting up hills cause I am getting hot and my pyro is after turbo . Just tell me what it needs and I will have to get buying them parts. Thanks for the help And any advise But all in all I like my 12 valve over that 24 valve. I need to update my sig, Justin

I can go 75 mph with a 8,000 lbs on a 7% grade at 30psi and 1200 degrees. However, the engine temp will peg after a minute or so under those conditions. So, you may be able to control the engine fueling temps with every mod in the universe, but ultimately you have to get rid of the all that heat and the stock cooling system can not do it. I have watched 2000 hp unlimited class diesels at the pikes peak race blow for the same reason. It is very hard to get rid of all that heat.
