I just finished the first part of the install of my Power Vision Mirrors. My first impression is that they are very nice mirrors. I do have a couple of questions for those of you that have installed them on your trucks. .

When I torqued down the 3 bolts the excess of the foam gasket on the outside of the door squeezes out from around the mount. Did you guys attempt to trim it flush or leave it as is.

I noticed the very top edge of the mirror mount where it comes to a point does not sit flat against the sheet metal of the door. There is approx 1/8 gap. I assume this is due to none of the bolts pull directly in on this area of the mount. I tried loosening all the bolts and retightening the top one first but it does not completely pull in the top. . Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

Tomorrow I will finish wiring up the switch assy and will let you all know how it comes out.

Thanks

Frank

Mine do not sit completely flush and the left and right side are not exactly the same. I futzed with them for a while until I was happy but they don't sit perfectly.

They work great, very slight movement on bumpy dirt roads but still good visability. I added small convex mirrors in the corners for a little more coverage.

Kiwi Bird, Thank you for your response. I finally have everything wired up and all is working very well. As I stated before the only concern I had was the alignment of the top of the mirror to the truck body and the excess gasket material squeezing out from behind the mount. Did you trim this or leave it alone? Anybody else have experience wit these mirrors or are we the only ones with them?

Thanks

Frank

Nope, I have them as well and have been quite pleased with them. I didn't really notice any great problem when tightening the mounting bolts (perhaps I wasn't paying attention) and didn't trim any of the foam gasket.

RustyJC, Thanks for your response. I am also extremely happy with the new mirrors. I just wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong when I aligned up the mirror with the truck. I may try loosening the mounts and repositioning the foam gasket. Maybe I do not have it seated correctly. . The mirrors are very solid when traveling down the road. Looks like I will be selling my OEM mirrors!

I purchased mine at May Madness in 2001 and they have not given me one problem. I did trim the foam backing on mine. The fit on mine is real good and they are also very steady.

I did check the positioning of the mirrors by loosening them up and re-torquing them and there is no play in the holes to adjust them any further. I think I will try trimming the gasket material and see how that works out. The mirrors are working great. No vibration at all. .
