Looking for long-term RV parking in Grand Island, Nebraska

Stupid question about Amps

I moved this from the parts and accessories section. Hopefully it applies more here.

I just finished the first part of the install of my Power Vision Mirrors. My first impression is that they are very nice mirrors. I do have a couple of questions for those of you that have installed them on your trucks. .

When I torqued down the 3 bolts the excess of the foam gasket on the outside of the door squeezes out from around the mount. Did you guys attempt to trim it flush or leave it as is.

I noticed the very top edge of the mirror mount where it comes to a point does not sit flat against the sheet metal of the door. There is approx 1/8 gap. I assume this is due to none of the bolts pull directly in on this area of the mount. I tried loosening all the bolts and retightening the top one first but it does not completely pull in the top. . Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

Tomorrow I will finish wiring up the switch assy and will let you all know how it comes out.

Thanks

Frank

Okay, Frank,

It's been over a week. Inquiring minds want to know. How did everything turn out?

I'm thinking of buying these for my truck, but would like a comparison between the PowerVision mirrors and the CIPA mirrors sold by Geno's Garage. Any input?

Thanks,

Loren

Hi Loren, I may of messed this up when I tried to transfer the thread to this section. I did not know how to go about deleting the original post in the parts and acc forum so everyone has been posting into that thread (parts and acc forum) instead of this one. I have finished up the mirrors and love them. I did have a very minor problem with the very top tip of the housing not aligning up with the truck body lines exactly but other than that all went well. Instructions were very easy to follow in my opinion. They seem to be as steady as the OEM mirrors in the retracted position. I have not tried the extended position other than when parked. They extend and retract very well and I have an excellent field of vision behind me and they also look great. I added the 3" spot mirrors to the outer lower corners. That helped me out alot. I cant wait to hitch up the trailer and try them out extended. I will let you know as soon as I have an opportunity to do so. I do not have any experience on the CIPA mirrors so I cannot comment on how they would compare. I definitely like the ability to extend and adjust my mirrors without the assistance of another person. If you have any other questions about the power vision mirrors let me know and I will try to answer them if I can. Good Luck with your new mirrors!
