No I haven't. Read about the intank pump. That was mentioned as one of the benifits of it. If not explain as I know you know a lot more then I do on these. DUBLR. The link is inop from my end.

Read it. Best I can tell from reading that is they are refering to external lift pumps and ones used with the VP44 injection pump that is used on 2nd gens(98. 5 to 2002) This external lift pump must still be used on industrial applications. Don't think we would see much of this on 3rd generation trucks but 2nd genners may have issues!

I haven't tryed it either :-laf too busy with other stuff. I should take the time out to play with it a bit for those just in case times. I have bypassed the filter mouted trucks to drive them back in to civilization,

3rd gen alternative lift pump???

From issue 58 page 153 there is an alternate lift pump available for our third gen trucks. I will be calling Monday morning to see how it mounts and if it will be as good as the factory set up.

On another note a friend has a 99 2500 and it has a cracked fuel heater assembly, I say no problem, call Cummins, no dice no parts listed??? We call Fleetgaurd. Guess what Fleetgaurd didn't make the 99 Dodge application fuel filter set up. Dodge wants $1100 for a retrofit kit to install a 2001 style filter set up!!!! I haven't found out who did make the original set up but it really erks me that the bean counters again took away the source of all parts by getting some vendor to under cut the price only to leave us, the customer, with a very unsatisfactory avenue for future repairs. Ken,

How about going to a wrecking yard and getting the needed parts?

Wrecking yard

Well I thought about it. I've kind of become the Shell answer man for one of my local Dodge diesel mechanics when he comes up against something thats hard to find or the aftermarket might have a better answer. I was still trying to find out the original manufacturer of the filter heater assembly when he called and said he had found the Dodge retrofit kit at a dealer and they wanted to move it out so were willing to discount it to move it. I was talking about the 99 fuel heater/filter assy

Dave I was talking about the 99 fuel heater filter head assembly. Sorry for the confusion. As far as my 03 lift pump goes I will be calling about the Delphi FP943 that's in issue 58 page 153. Ken Iriwn

Tried looking up the Delphi FP943 on the web. Found the site or sites and found Delphi pumps and parts etc. But not the FP943. I'll try again when my head is into doing more searching.

Geno's has the same basic kit which I bought as an insurance policy. Are these just as unreliable as the filter mounted ones? I'm not keen on the in-tank pumps, but I don't want the noise of a FASS pump.

Heads Up: I just talked to Alliant tech support re these for my '01... he said it is internally identical to stock, except that it has an internal bypass so that it will pass fuel in the event of it's own malfunction and also that it is tweaked for low psi (~2psi/hi volume), so you'd havta put a flow meter on it to really watch it. Huh?--I dunno...
