is there any afordable way to program an allison 1000 to a common-rail? and shift it? i have a friend who is parting out a duramax and has a built allison in it and my 48re has just took a crap, if it would be as afordable as building my 48re i would like to do that, i know the duramax's allsion still use the chevy pattern (not allison OTC) so i have a few questions

1) i know the 1000 has its own adapter plate (chevy on duramax's and OTC in other applications) so i assume i could find the OTC torque converter hosuing for the allison, and cummins allison adapters are cheap everywhere from at545's ,but would that work for a 1000 as well.

2) i know there is a place that is selling transfercase adapters to bolt to my stock one and i have seen standalone controllers for the allison but they are $1,600 and would i still need something for my cummins ecm since there would be no 48re.

3) what is this and is this anything at all?

The single biggest expense is sourcing and building the Ally, if you can get a good price on that piece the rest is going to be less than building a 48RE.

Getting the programming to use an Ally behind the Cummins is going to be problematic. Those were delivered as specific combinations for a specific application, detuned for the most part, in motor homes. If you could find somebody to provide that tune and interface it probably would not be compatible with the rest of the controllers on your truck.

The parts are all readily available to do the conversion. The electronics is the expensive and harder part. I assume you have already visited destroked.com and seen their offerings. You might want to check with Suncoast also to see their ideas and pieces.

I like the destroked comtroller simply for its flexibility and tuning capabilities. A cheaper controller is going to have less features and options. With one of these I want the ability to tune it and not have to pay to have that done all the time.

If you are looking for a 6 speed unit to tow and drive with, not race and sled pull, the Ally would seem to be a good choice. If you want to push big power and play then stay with the 48RE.
