been working on my 66 ford 4x4 with 4bt Oo.
using gm adaptor and gm duramax allison 1000 . would like to use with a ford np 205 as i allready have an adaptor for a gear vendors unit. looking at it before i got the allison it seemed that alli needed was a 32 spline input from a chev 205 and i was good. . allison arrived and it has a huge 29 spline output that works with nvg 263 i have been reasearching the problem and people have been breaking 32 spline input stuff on 205's with 6bt power. or isb. chevy guys also break 32 sp stuff they have been recomending using the dodge 205 input from a truck with a getrag it is 29 spline ... my ? is is the dodge a 29 spline and a smaller diameter or pitch than the chev 32 sp fine???? or is it larger . dodge uses the coupler shaft setup and i guess this could be stronger than a 32 even at smaller diameter if there is a design difference in strength.
this seems foolish i must assume the dodge 29 spline is much larger than the chev 32
is this true??
and if so is it the same spline design as the duramax 4x4 allison???
also the allison 1000 seems to be a great transmission but its been said that the gm version has no internal valving to enhance durability it relies on pcm and ecm communication to reduce engine torque like all other modern gas motors transmissions do.
its been said using the gm version of the allison is impossible because it will break due to limitations not protecting it.
i guess all gm transmission swapers will be going with an aftermarket controller dosent it seem that if shift duration and line pressure are modified properly a mechanical diesel and a electronic transmission will be happy???
and last does any one know of a allison 6 bolt transfercase adaptor housing... ?
