I really want to order a new 2wd 3500 QC SRW to replace my 96' CC 4x4 5-sp. cummins, but has anyone heard of dodge putting that allison behind it or a HO availible in California? or is the 48re as close as we are going to get?
Besides, from what I've read the Allison is not up to the torque our CTD's generate and they must be modified to take ANY bombing. It sounds like their just as weak or worse than the 47RE.
It sounds like the 48re is a step in the right direction now if I could order the HO in Ca. I would be really happy, If I order a SO it is only rated at :--) 235 hp here not quite the 255 the other states get.
anyone here of any new paint colors? ,I liked that blue met. they had a few years back unsure of the name . I also liked the Light Kiwi Met. even farther back , Probaley one of the few to like that color.
If you mean Infineon as my home track yes. Maybe I should buy one down in Vegas when I'm at that all mopar show race. LOL
The out of state thing is a possibility , I think you have to rack up 7500 miles before they let you put Ca. plates on it. I would like to take advantage of that $2000. rebate thru the 28th.
I have driven several 1000 series Allison trans behind 185hp 6bt's and this is the ultimate setup. The five speed grabs a gear when needed and the boost keeps going up, also has a nice tight converter. Too bad we don't have them.
If allison's that great, maybe Dodge should offer the deramaxx as well! I'm real happy with my 48RE on my HO, it too grabs gears well. If it goes 150K with only normal maintance, then it will be a good transmission. I guess I've been stranded too many times out in the sticks in chevys. Never have been stranded with my Dodges (so far).
In the first year and a half in the there has not been a mechanical failure with the Allison's in the "brown trucks" , and they test them hard. The only problem has been electrical switches. The extra gear is very nice.
