New owner of 2005 SRW 4X4 4Dr longbed 4:10. Am wondering if anyone is doing a conversion to the Allison transmission for the Dodge?

Oh it can be done. ATS near Denver had several Allisons sitting on their shelves when I last visited them. But it is a whole lot easier to get your 48RE (or 47RE or 47RH) muscled up.

I got my ATS Stage IV trans three years ago and it is the best thing I ever did to my truck. There are other builders who re-do the Dodge trannys, but IMO none are better than ATS. But you should call around, when the time comes, and check for yourself.

Yes somecompany does found the site a while ago but don't remember any more. There was absolutly no info on the site just stated Dodge Allison transmission conversion. that was it. I will see if I can find it again.

John- Are you from Denver area? (I know of a John Conway here) If so, I'll give you a ride in an auto with a tighter torque converter... Might not need an Allison!

For the money you can make the 8E bulletproof, But if I was going to put any allison behind a cummins it woudnt be the 1000 series, I would put something mechanical in like an AT545 or an MT600 series. There are plenty of those already behind medium duty cummins. That 1000 series is junk IMHO!

I don't know if this the one, but PDR did a special project conversion of a Dodge 5-speed to an Allison. They converted it to a MT600 medium-duty transmission though, not the 1000 series.
