Does anyone have access to the part# for the new 17x8. 5 forged alcoa wheels that are on the new Power Wagon??

I'm not having any luck here!!

Also can someone confirm that the alloy wheels on the 2004. 5 and up 2500 and 3500srw are forged and not cast??

Dodge did the same mis-information on the 01. They claimed at the time that they were forged!!

The wheels on my wifes 03 3500 are cast>

Thanks,

Bob

I'm trying to decide what to do on wheels. I'm considering the new Kilby wheels, the above listed factory wheels, and any Alcoa 17x8, IF they ever decide to produce them.

I assume you're referring to Ram 2500's. What have you found that suggests the aluminum wheels that were available on Ram 2500's model years 2000-2002 were cast rather than forged? The only cast wheels I found on Rams model year 2001 were on the 1500's.

I didn't know the PW wheels were different, got a pic?

It's my understanding the Alcoa's won't have the correct back space and will poke out the fenders.

Have you cosidered Rickson wheels? I just put 19. 5's on my 04 1/2 3500 4x4-I have had alot of compliments. They also ride great. I had the tires and rims match mounted at Rickson prior to delivery.

The wheels on my 01 2500 are cast, at least I'm fairly sure they are.

The wheels on my wifes 03 3500 srw are cast, I'm even more sure of this one, even the window sticker says "cast" 17x8 for whats that worth.

I'm not interested in the Ricksons for my use.

Thanks for the part #s

Hey Bob, Diana has an '04. 5 with the aluminum wheels and I read that they were forged but I'll take a look at the window sticker and see if there's anything on that. I do know that they look different than the earlier '04s.

New 17-inch aluminum wheels with LT285/70R17 BSW All-Terrain tires

That doesn't look like anything different. Looks like the same alloy wheel option that is now polished with the steel wheels chrome cap.

You may be right about the '03 (a good reason to avoid the alloy wheels, then), but your '01 definitely had forged aluminum wheels. I did extensive research on these wheels when I was dealing with the whole over GVWR issue on my '01. 5 2500.

The Power Wagon wheels are a special wheel made by Alcoa.

They have a unique edge designed to allow low pressure operation. (not a beadlock)

I'm not interested in them for this feature, just the fact that they are made by Alcoa and have the correct offset and backspace.

Gus,

Thanks, it will be interesting to see the difference in the wheels. I read somewhere that they had improved the factory wheels. (except for the shiny finish, I hate CHROME!!! or even the appearence of chrome)The alloys on Babette's 03 are even cheaper looking than my 01!!!

Dave,

thanks for the info.

What did you come up with for weight ratings??

Well, I just looked at the window sticker from Diana's truck and it says that they are 17" x 8" Cast Aluminum Wheels. I have read elsewhere that they are forged so I still don't know for sure but that is what's on the sticker.
