Just sitting here having coffe and thinking about how close I am getting to having this conversion running!!! It is a 1980 Scout 2 Terra pick up with 118 WB and 235/85r16 tires and wheels. It now has air bag supension added front and rear. I have been working on it non stop and will work all day into tonight. I have had the engine in and built the motor mounts and the mechanical clutch linkage. I then pulled the engine out to paint and insulate the fire wall and change the wiring. I added air bags to the front axel. Drive shafts are made. I did not have to modify the fire wall or move the radiator!! I wish I knew how to post pictures on the web. I'll take some today if I can stop. I'll have to post them latter. I'm getting too close to done to bother now. The truck has a 2" body lift to help me clear things. It has a Power Stroke intercooler mounted behind the grill. No exterior modifications to the grill. It has a 4BT fly wheel and a South Bend clutch going to a Advanced adaptors Ranger overdrive gear splitter into a SM420 GM truck 4 speed into an adaptor to the Dana 300 T case with 4 to 1 low gear kit in it. I have a huge air cleaner and a 3. 5" strait pipe exahst. Yes I will have to be carfull not to tear my drive line to pieses. But I am not going to be towing heavly with it and it doesent weigh that much more so I don't think I will have trouble if i can keep from drag racing! It has 3. 73 dana 44s front and rear with disk brakes on the front. I might swap in 3. 08 gears latter. I am running an electric fan because it is the only thing that would fit. I have a four core high efficency radiator. The engine is not all that much heaver than the Nissan diesel that came out. The springs were not much lower than before I installed the Ride Rite air bags.
I have done an awfull lot of upside down welding on my back!! I made alot of clutch linkage parts on my old time lathe. I made alot of things on my old time Jig Bore machine as well. It is like a big milling machine but more for Boring but it does everthing a mill will do. I wish I could say it has been easy but it has been more work than I thought it would be! Hope to be able to drive it by Saturday but who knows what may come up. I'll be sure to report.
Treven.
