After about $60 and 2 hours worth of work, my lame old 160 pump works awesome. I changed the boost fitting, AFC spring, and slid the stock plate all the way forward... WOW what a difference. Pretty much no smoke either :{ but that will come.
Planning on replacing the plate with a #4 soon, and installing my 4K GSK (still stick Gov springs) soon. Maybe then. Just someone might like to know about the positive experience - much thanks to all who have responded to my posts on the board.
As far as my earlier posts about boost, EGT, etc, I am now making about 25 psi, and I can get to 1200 degrees if I really try to keep my foot in it on a long uphill climb, but usually around 1000 unloaded...
Went to the tractor pulls a few weeks ago, and my rough idle/low rpm concern seemed pretty minor (and not detrimental) compared to the way those guys sounded...
